The quiet interior courtyard was perfect for dining out on a warm August evening. We shared an excellent aubergine starter and then continued with the lamb shank with couscous and vegetables (huge) and a very good lamb tagine with fruit. Finished with delicious patisseries and mint tea. The refreshing mojitos we started with were a surprising plus. All in all a lovely dinner. Highly recommended.

You know how sometimes when you're traveling and you just want to eat in a small, quiet, welcoming restaurant where you know everything is going to be ok? You don't want fanfare, you don't want grand? You just want to be taken care of. L'Arbousier is that sort of place--really just a tea room, but immediately you can see how a lot of thought was put into creating a welcoming environment. An assortment of teas and teapots flank the side walls as you enter. Although a few tables are available for dining al fresco, we chose the calm interior tables, under the arches of an ancient room. The menu offerings are few, Lebanese in origin with enough choices to please the four of us. The owner, Nagwa, made sure that we were pleased with both the food and the service, which of course we were. Although my spelling may not be exactly correct, we loved Baalbeck, La Nimoise, and La Farigoule. All the ingredients were fresh and and pleasingly arranged. Vegetarian options are possible as well. One more thing must be mentioned because to me it is the essence of L'Arbousier--the bathroom. It is spotlessly clean, roomy and decorated in a lovely way that displays Nagwa's hand and care once again. We were in France for a couple of weeks, had many memorable meals, but nowhere were we treated as well.

After a morning of sightseeing we were looking for a restaurant for lunch. Came upon Le Mont Liban just across from the Musée Romaine, near the Arène. The service was very friendly and the food arrived in short order, the meal was absolutely delicious. I has the shawarma plate and my partner had the shishtaouck (sp?). Both dishes were full plates with tabouleh and hummus or babaganoush, and great fries. Bring your appetite and palate, both will be well served.
