I visited Aladdinâs Eatery on Washington Road a little after 5:30pm on a September Tuesday. The place was fairly busy but I was quickly seated at a table near the front windows. In addition to the food menu I was also given a beer and wine menu. I hoped to order the Lebanese beer Almaza, but when my waitress came she said the place was currently out of Almaza (all the beers are bottled; nothing on tap). So I opted for a Yuengling, a Pennsylvania beer. I also ordered a couple of small appetizers (there are also âregularâ sizes available). One was called Foole M Damas, which is a dip made from a blend of fava beans, garlic, and lemon juice drizzled with olive oil. The other appetizer I chose was Dawali, which consists of rolled grape leaves stuffed with rice, chickpeas, tomatoes, and topped with feta crumbles. The appetizers (see picture) were absolutely delicious, and I especially liked the minty flavor of the stuffed grape leaves; the other appetizer reminded me of refried beans in a Mexican restaurant but with a lighter texture and better flavor with the addition of garlic and lemon juice, plus the pita pieces made for a great accompaniment. Although the appetizers were âsmall,â I felt they were very generous portions. When the main course came out â I ordered the Mujadara Plate which features steamed lentils and brown rice topped with chopped tomatoes, cucumbers, green peppers, scallions, onions, parsley, and crispy fried onions â I was amazed by the portion size. I can usually eat large portions, but despite the great flavors in this entrée I could finish just over half of it. My waitress offered very good service during my visit and I left impressed, especially when I learned that Aladdinâs Eatery is a franchise. I would recommend anyone wanting anything from vegan to vegetarian to full-on meat eating to enjoy a reasonably-priced meal at Aladdinâs Eatery.

Amel's specializes in fresh, delicious dishes from around the Mediterranean. We have kabobs, seafood, pasta, steaks and salads as well as Middle Eastern favorites. We have creative daily specials, and plenty of sandwich, appetizer, soup or salad choices f
was stuck in Pittsburgh decided to go to Amels for dinner, should have fought rush hour traffic instead! The waiter was ridiculous! I actually felt sorry for this kid! I truly believe this kid had no idea why he was even there! Cheap wine! Garbage pinot noir! The label they offered was pinot evil! It is 7.99 in the liquor store. They charge 8.00 a glass plus it was cold. I am still nuceaus! I ordered chicken taboo and it was taboo alright! A plate of slop is what I was qiven. My appetizer of grapeleaves had to be sent back dry and tasteless as a hockey puck! My chicken taboo was overcooked and dry on the outside barely cooked internally . I don't know who is cooking back there but they are doing a horrible job! My bill was 59.00 and I will never step into this dirty filthy establishment again! Farwell and following seas, Amels!

Struggled with this one. Definitely above average, but VG? Wonderful lamb as others indicated. Generous portions for very reasonable prices. Good dessert.Excellent service by Natasha, daughter of the owners working the kitchen. But salad was average at best. Pita bread so so.We promised to go back and we will, as we like the source of their lamb and chicken. It is a definite go especially as it is a BYOB.Don't skip this one because I limited my overall to average. It is really quite good, but short of VG.
