Find out what Middle Eastern restaurants to try in Madison. The sprawling University of Wisconsin sets the tone for this college town of cafes, bookstores, brewpubs, numerous restaurants (more per capita than anywhere else in the U.S.) and a good share of cultural and historical attractions. Stunning glacial waterways make the City of Lakes one of the more picturesque state capitals in the country. More than 250 parks offer residents and tourists plenty of recreational areas to choose from. If you visit the campus, be sure to try the famous Babcock Ice Cream at Memorial Union or Babcock Hall, before or after a visit to the Elvehjem Museum of Art's collection of Greek, Roman and Egyptian antiquities. And to really get into the college spirit, head over to State Street's eclectic range of ethnic restaurants. Be sure to try the mouth-watering bratwurst sandwich on a homemade bun at State Street Brats, a student favorite. At the end of State Street, the white granite, Roman Renaissance-style Capitol dominates the skyline and offers an observation platform for views of the city and lakes.

I don't think this place has changed since I went to school at UW... and that's fantastic. It's like eating a nice Mediterranean meal in someone's kitchen. The staff is super friendly and the space is interesting. It's unique at this point on State Street... but that makes it worth stopping by. My wife and I went for the Shwarma plates... chicken for her, lamb for me. They came with rice, salad, hummus, and pitas. All of it was tasty. A perfect amount of food for lunch.Only two minor knocks... First, it's cash-only. It's 2017... have to accept credit cards. Second, I would like to see a few more spices/ingredients... the simplicity makes the Mediterranean Cafe accessible to everyone but also limits the ability to customize. Perhaps this is an Americanized take but something I've seen at Mediterranean places in Chicago.Definitely stop by while on State Street... it's great to eat there or to take it over to the Terrace should the weather cooperate.

Great place for a dinner. Musaka is the best I have had in the U.S. Good Turkish coffee. Visit every time I am in Madison. The food and service are consistently good. The restaurant is not busy. Nice and quiet. Good for a date or a visit with family or friends to have a conversation.

2 stars because the food is very good, very delicious tomato sauce, but the waiter, he acts like is bothered with the fact of people going there, 1st.when he brought my salad he threw my plate on the table with disgust. 2nd. I asked for my plate to come WITHOUT the spaguetti and it came with the spaguetti anyway, terrible spaguetti btw, too hard, was that AL DENTE? , 3rd the lemonade was more ice than lemonade and when we ran out of lemonade nobody asked to refill it... I think I can live without going there again, I don't have time to be misstreated by a waiter, there are other italian restaurants around Middleton!

Whenever I come here I always end up getting the banzo pita sandwich and I'm never disappointed. Their falafels are amazing and everything tastes very fresh. Love coming here when the weathers nice and sitting in their outdoor area with a glass of their sangria as well.
