Our first visit to Ali Baba Shish Kabob was to celebrate our anniversary. We made a reservation, although not necessary, but after tasting the food, we couldn't understand why there wasn't a line at the door!? It was fantastic! Most gluten-free folks wouldn't consider going to a Middle Eastern restaurant, because what would you gather up the hummus with, if not pita? Well, my server brought wonderful carrot sticks, issue solved. We decided on the lamb shank and the chicken shawarma. Unbelievable flavors, the lamb shank was falling off the bone, accompanied by almond rice, although no raisins. The lamb was so tender, it literally fell off the bone. There was a hint on cinnamon to it and it was fantastic. The Shawarma was out of this world, plenty of garlic, wonderful rice, pickled beets, and onions. We had enough food for four people. The lentil soup had a little zip and additional lemon gave it a final 5 star! We at all we could, then the owner presented us with a beautiful anniversary dessert, house-made baklava and cheesecake. We brought plenty food home. A wonderful meal and we will be back!

This is an excellent place located in a run down section of town. Sure things are getting better on Joseph Campau in Hamtramack, but it is still a little seedy. No problem though, the food is great. This is different than your typical Middle Eastern place. Very authentic. Most of the customers appears to be local and ethnic. That says something about the quality of the food. They do a lot of take out orders too. Well worth a visit.
We were looking for a place off the tourist radar with good food and this was the place! It's very casual but really great. The waitress was attentive and very friendly. All questions answered with a smile. The food was delicious and portions were huge! If you are looking for something authentic in a clean, well-run restaurant, I recommend this place. The owner even stopped by to chat after our meal and could not have been nicer.

Having lived in India for five years, it is difficult to find authentic tasting, well done Indian food in metro Detroit. Aladdin does it right from the spices, to the great vegetarian selection, to the nicely done chicken tikka. The bread - Naan, roti and paratha's are all good. While technically Bangladeshi, Aladdin has the best south asian food I have found in metro Detroit.

We were in Detroit for a conference, and our Lyft driver was taking us to a restaurant that turned out to be closed (cork and gabel). He asked if we liked middle eastern food, and suggested Al Ameer. It was a bit further away, but we are very glad we listened to him. The hummus, tabouleh, babaganoush, shawarma, chicken, fatoush were excellent. We have spent a lot of time in the middle east, and were thrilled with the food. The service was all it needed to be and the servings were huge (we took a lot back to the hotel). Highly recommend this place... also, the pita is made in a wood-fired oven, and it really makes a difference.

Thanks to TripAdvisor I found Anita's Kitchen while attending a training class in the Detroit suburbs. I love Mediterranean food, but Anita's Kitchen serves some of the best I've had in the states. I brought along two classmates from my class, one of whom had never tried Mediterranean food before. With the help of Anita's great food, I believe we have won over a new "convert". We thoroughly enjoyed the stuffed grape leaves, both the plain and jalapeno hummus, and tabbouleh for appetizers. We were grateful that our server James D. guided us to the proper sizes to order (the small plates of apps easily satisfy 4 people). We also enjoyed the chicken shawarma for our main course. It was a great experience overall. Our only wish was that we lived close enough to visit again!
