We have passed this place several times and we decided to try it. We waited 15 min to be seated and it was well worth it. I had a beef fajita and it was the best that I have had in years. Great food and great staff.

I think they get a little complacent after rave reviews, long lines and tv spots. This is still one of my favorite places but some visits lately have been quite unsatisfying. Shrimp so chewy and flavorless that it was not enjoyed at all. 2 of the same burrito ordered in takeout but with very different toppings were both just labeled with the burrito name so we had to unroll and decide which was which. One completely wrong burrito from an online order. P.I.G. basically a slaw burrito with a little meat one day. I will always be back and they know it but thatâs likely part of the problem.....

Beer Barrio is a craft beer-infused modern Mexican restaurant. It has 30 beers on draft, delicious margaritas and creative chef-driven cuisine. Beer Barrio was founded by NYC restaurant industry vets/husband and wife team Stephen Durley and Hayley Jensen.
Staying in Wilmington for a few days and surprised by the large number of Mexican restaurants so decided to try Beer Barrio, very good fresh quality Mexican food. The restaurant gets crowded with the young locals and we managed to get a table for the 2 of us.The restaurant provides a free serving of fresh hot tortilla chips and a smooth (not chunky) salsa with each entree. Chips were very good and salsa was not too spicy.I ordered the Pressed Burrito stuffed with Cheddar Jack cheese, smoky black beans, pico de gallo and served with sour cream and guacamole. Excellent dish, fresh and heated slightly. Partner ordered the Quesadillas served with melted Cheddar Jack cheese between 2 flour tortillas with tostada crisp, lettuce, pico de gallo and loved them. Food is so fresh.Service was fine and pricing was quite low considering the local in downtown Wilmington, NC. Nice surprise.

Love Mexican food and Island did not disappoint. The burritos are large, moist and generously filled. The quesadilla portion was also large and generiously filled. The only thing I would recommend would be to toast the quesadilla shell more as it completely fell apart when I tried to pick it up.
