Joined a friend to visit and have a bite. We shared the beef nachos, a generous portion - flavorful and delicious. Their complimentary salsa is so good - we included that with each bite. Service was fantastic - constantly refilling our drinks - and bringing salsa. A perfect little lunch! Looking forward to trying more items.

I was working in the area and was wanting some chicken fajitas. I ordered them to go and it was quick and the order was accurate. It came with chips and salsa also. Everyone working there was very friendly and I may make it back before departing.

We did Saturday night dinner-8:00 no wait. Chips and salsa appeared quickly-salsa was good-spicey but good. Chips not remarkable. Wife ordered a blue moon beer- was served a very large âtallâ $9.00 beer ! Menu also lists a small $6.00 blue moon beer. We felt this may not have been properly handled.Ordered food- enchiladaâs. I had a combination plate-the cheese and bean were good-the beef and chicken unremarkable. In all we had a $45.00 meal including the $9.00 beer ! We return maybe ?

Monterrey in Clive has three things going for it:1. The food is always delicious (I swear by the Guadalajara Special).2. Service is fast and friendly (rarely more than about five minutes from order to hot food on the table).3. The prices are perfectly reasonable (dinner out with the family never comes close to breaking the bank, and the portions are huge). You're guaranteed to leave with a full belly and a smile on your face.

I lived in Dallas before this became a franchise, and was thrilled when it finally came to Des Moines. However, over the years the quality has eroded. Old Timer with cheese still a favorite, but not above average. Fries are good. Soups marginal. Chips and salsa probably the highlight. El Presidente margarita is worth it, with its own shaker.

The last time we were here it was "ok". We decided to give it another try, because it used to be very good. We waited and waited for the server and ended up doing something I don't think we have ever done before... we walked out. We told the cashier who shrugged. End of story. A lot of Mexican restaurants in the area... go to one of them.

Very good service. I love their spice sauce and the melon margarita. Good prices. I didn't like the chile verde pork, had a lot of fat couldn't eat it at all. Besides that, the rest was very good. I tried the blackberry margarita was good too.
