While visiting the Cambridge area we wanted some good Mexican Food and we found it at the Border Cafe. This a great place with lots of atmosphere, loud music and great food. All the food we ordered was great along with some good Margaritas. If you are in the area of Harvard stop in for some Mexican, you wonât go wrong. Just make sure you are not in a hurry because you are going to wait for a table.

This place was filled to bursting with young locals and...after tasting the food and experiencing the service, I understand why. Somehow, even with the crowd of people, the staff managed to be friendly and attentive. We never felt neglected. As for the food...two of us had the Mexican street corn (Elote de la Calle) and loved it. I wasn't up to a big meal so I tried the small tacos. Heavenly. I could make a meal of those lovely little things.

I work nearby and come here for lunch based on a recommendation. It was outstanding! The place is totally off the beaten path and looks completely unassuming but the food was amazing and really inexpensive! Everything you would want including Fanta and Jarritos beverages (I went mango but debated getting the Fanta). It has table service and accepts credit cards. For lunch I ate the beef fajita and requested the house hot sauce and I was so pleased. I got chips and pico just for sitting. The staff was super friendly and there was lots of Spanish being spoken inside so I would call that a good sign. There is huge takeout business and the restaurant is hopping. I will absolutely be coming here again very, very soon.

We stopped by here occasionally when in Harvard Square. Itâs a nice chill dine in or take out Mexican restaurant with limited basic choices. Ordered the two (decent)soft tacos for $4.50 and like every time in the past when you get to the register the cost is much higher.. so basically if you get anything on it that it doesnât come with you pay extra ... i.e. guacamole $1extra really!

Not happy with the queso fundido, which was far too watery (my husband didn't think it was actually cheese at all); but the cheese enchiladas were the old-fashionedTex-Mex kind with jack cheese (not the more authentic kind with Mexican cheeses which are so fashionable in "authentic" Mexican joints nowadays - and they're good, but sometimes you just want the old cheddar or jack stuffing). Mmm, been a while since we've had those. Also, why hasn't any other Mexican place I've ever been to - and that's quite a number on both coasts, as well as in Mexico and many other places - devised the very simple procedure of serving the salsa in individual small bowls (which makes moot the entire "double dipping" controversy)? Evidently only this place has thought of it. For that reason alone, kudos to the Watertown Ixtapa.
