Enjoyed lunch there today! The chips were nice & warm & the salsa was just right! The chicken tacos were excellent & my husband's meal was great too. Yes, the restrooms were nice & clean but this particular day the service was slow, & slower. We might try it again, but only if we had plenty of time.

This cozy restaurant certainly fits the bill for what you want in a good New Mexican establishment: complimentary fresh chips and salsa (spicy but good), and also complimentary sopapillas afterwards, as well as generous portions. One of us got carne adovada burrito (spicy) and the other got chile rellenos. The only real downside is that they bring you so much to eat - we almost quite literally filled up on the sides alone, and had we not been traveling the next morning, we easily could have taken a large amount of our dinners home with us. Maybe slightly more expensive than comparable restaurants, but still you get plenty for your money.

I love NM Mexican food. Everything should be as it was at El Patron. The chips & salsa, the enchiladas, sopapillas, and Iced-tea (with lemon). Wonderful, fast and efficient service. I like the decor. It is very conducive for a 2 hour lunch with a dear friend.

I'm getting used to these Mom & Pop New Mex joints. Most of them open from--say--7-8AM to 2-3PM, serving hearty breakfasts, and well prepared lunches. This is a local concept that helps to define New Mex cuisine. Not surprisingly, they were packed when we visited, and we had to wait a bit for a table. I was with a couple of tenderfoots, so sauces (red/green) came on the side. Both sauces were amazing. I did their GCC, and while not the best I've had in New Mexico, it was still a solid sender for Hatch flavor. Their complimentary whole wheat Sopapillas on the other hand were stupid good. They greatly enhanced savory bites, and then squeezes of honey at the end of the meal for a sweet bite. Genuinely friendly folks kept the revolving door of patrons pleased and satisfied. Perea's was a total winner, plain and simple...

This is usually a gathering hole for friends and family for me. Last night it was my husbands birthday and he wanted to go there. Evening started off well, despite how busy we got seated fast. After that the service was horrible, our kind waitress was overloaded but didnât show it.Our food took 4ever, and drinks were great as their margaritas are, when we got them. Food was great as remembered, the worst Sopas ever. Not brown, still white and one was flat didnât puff at all. Shame on the cooks for letting the Sopas go out looking like that.Considering all the apologies, I expected some kind of compensation. Their chips taste store bought I donât eat them anymore there. Going on a Saturday night around 630 is not a good idea. Not sure if I ever want to go back there, there are better options in town that the staff take care of you. Dear Lybraq,We appreciate that Papa Felipe's is a favorite watering hole and we're honored that you choose us for the birthday celebration. We're sorry that we let you down on your last visit. You are correct, there is no way the sopas should have come out of the kitchen they way you described them. Despite our best efforts, sometimes we fall short. Please know, if a matter is brought to our attention, we will solve it on the spot. If the server can't take care of the issue, just ask for a manger. We value your business (because, you are right, there are a lot of great food choices in Albuquerque). We also appreciate your review. It helps us know where we can improve. I'm traveling on Route 66 by bicycle so driving long distances to find breakfast is not an option. I stayed the night at a local campground and stopped here for breakfast. The breakfast burrito was excellent. And the coffee was hot and very flavorful. I highly recommend this out of the way place.

Not 1-in-a-100 Mexican restaurants prepares homemade, fresh chips ... Cranes does, & they are simply outstanding. Freshly hand-made tortillas, fried, then seasoned - served-up hot ... not some kinda Doritoâs or Tostitoâs from a bag right outta the Walmart or 7/11 kitchens. So, what else is different at Cranes than the 1000âs of other Mexican eateries???1.) truly wonderful chimichangaâs - order them smothered w/red-Chili sauce ... unless you are a fellow gringo like me, then order the sauce on the side unless you want to chance having your britches-lit-up, as Cranes chili sauces are NOT for the timid; 2.) fine, delicate sopapillas - w/honey naturally; 3.) dessert âflanâ - really nicely done w/an unusual, but amazing fruit based sauce. Really tasty. Note: their chili-rellanos are NOT made with traditional mild pablano peppers - donât know what they use, but they are volcanic. You done been warned. Net/net: really good food; large portions = great value; VERY reasonable prices; served-up by genuinely nice people ... so, whatâs not to love about all this???

1. My wife and I came upon the Ponderosa while exploring the area between Albuquerque and the beautiful Salinas Mission Churches.2. We were greeted at the door by a fantastic hostess, who we immediately dubbed 'The Hostess with the Mostest!' Absolutely cool lady with a great smile, a stunning character who really took care of us the whole time we were there.3. The menu has lots of options for every taste, and we thought the prices were more than reasonable. a. I had the fish and chips which were excellent. I would also note that the French Fries must be home made because they were absolutely stunning. b. My wife had a beautiful salad that had a gorgeous presentation. It is obvious that the chef is someone who takes real pride in his work and has been professionally trained. My wife loved the salad. c. We found the portions to be generous.4. During our meal the hostess came over to be sure all was well; and the owner even came over to say hi and check on everything. BTW, he is a real gentleman and very polite. He is low key but is definitely working hard to make sure all customers have a perfect experience. And we did.5. Ambience: This is not one of those noisy, stale, warehouse kind of restaurants with no atmosphere. The Ponderosa is great with all kinds of Southwest items on the walls. For example, we had a beautiful old cowboy guitar hanging just above our heads, and there was Western movie music playing softly in the background.6. The restaurant also has beautiful, freshly baked desserts to have in the restaurant or to take home. We had some fresh baked cookies and they were 'to die for.'7. The restaurant has a beautiful and inviting old 'Western saloon-style' bar that would be great to sit at with your friends.8. Bottom Line: a. We really enjoyed our experience here. The food, the staff, the menu, the location were all fantastic. b. This is a great place for a family outing, a business outing, a place for all those mountain and road bikers in the area, anyone passing by. And it's close enough to Albuquerque that it's worth the ride. c. Thanks to the great staff at The Ponderosa who really made us feel welcome. We will definitely be back.

Just got home from having dinner at La Salita tonight. It was my wife, her Service Dog and I. I had the shredded beef burrito with refried beans, pappas and covered in green chile. My wife had 2 turkey enchiladas with refried beans, pappas and covered in green chile. We also got chips and salsa and sopas. The food was delicious, generous portions and the staff was wonderful. Now that we are home we are all sitting on the couch absolutely stuffed. Great Dinner!!!
