After a few hours of tromping around parks and other venues we decided to get a bite to eat. One of our favorites that is always reliable is Taco Cabana. This particular location just happened to be along our route of travel so it was perfect for us.The only concern was parking as we came in we thought we we were on a side lot but an adjacent sign made it clear we were in the back end of the Bill Millers parking lot and we could face getting our car towed. The staff was friendly and helpful and the food was delivered pretty quickly. What I really love is the opportunity to pick my own amounts of salsas, cilantro, lemons, limes, pica de gallo to flavor my food items. This particular visit I had the Fajita plate and my brother had the Enchilada plate. Both were fantastic. No complaints. The tables were clean and they had seating both in and outside.

Easily the best of the "build your own" Mexican fare. In three visits, yet to be disappointed. I've enjoyed tacos each time (ground beef, barbacoa, steak), but the burritos look great too. I highly recommend the grilled shrimp tacos...some of the best I've ever had. The highlight of each meal has been the choice of sauces at the end. Many flavors and heat levels to choose from. The hottest is spectacular, and keeps me coming back. The place and fixings bar is very clean, the staff really nice, and the price for the amount of food you get is not bad. Only misses 5 stars due to average tasting sides like guacamole and queso. Still better than those other places.

Here is another reason why the San Antonio area is the best in the U.S. for Tex-Mex food. Like many Mexican restaurants on FM 78 on either side of Randolph AFB, Sely's is exceptional in quality and low prices. They have a daily lunch specials and a happy hour which includes a 32 ounce draught beer for $3.99. It is all good but their puffy taco's are excellent. Also, try the refried beans and barracho beans. Home-made flour tortillas are warm and soft. If you like Tex-Mex, you will love this place.
Melanie's cafe in Schertz is a great place for tasty Mexican food. The cafe is small and cozy but the experience will not leave you wanting. The service is extraordinary and the food is served quickly and is very delectable.

I am new to the San Antonio area. This was one of the first Mexican restaurants I visited. My wife and I went there for lunch. The food was good and came out very fast. This is the perfect place to go for lunch.
My wife and I stopped at this location based on a family member's recommendation. When we first saw the place we were very confused; it didn't even look like it should be standing let alone serving food. We arrived at lunch time and the place was empty except for the staff. The décor was eclectic to say the least (no two chairs or tables matched); the menu was the size of a large note pad with offerings on the front and back; the entire offering (breakfast, lunch and diner) was contained in this small space. The food is traditional Mexican (not TexMex). The food is prepared fresh to order. The lunch choices, four items with three variations (chicken, pork, beef) of each. The food is tasty yet without frills. The prices are low and the service attentive. If you find yourself on I-35, just outside Shertz Texas, this is well worth the stop. Don't allow its outward appearance make you drive on by.

Unsurprisingly the San Antonio area is dotted with Tex-Mex restaurants and we ended up visiting Chuis in Selma. The menu had s good variety and I had the stuffed avocado tacos platter which was very good. Others too found their dishes viz. the veggie combo, the taquitos & veggie enchiladas satisfying. Would recommend.

The price was a good value. Serving was large. Service was lacking for drink refills. Complimentary chips were good but size of bowl was small and not replenished. There was an upcharge of 99 cents from refried beans to charro beans and had not experienced this from other restaurants. The fajitas seemed to be steamed and not grilled, no sizzle to them. No plastic bag given for takeout food.

This restaurant continues to provide customers with high quality Mexican food at a very reasonable price. The wait service is excellent and courteous all the time. The selection is quite extensive, and every item I have ever ordered has been delicious, fresh, and hot when served. This is a great place for an individual, a couple or families. The enchiladas are especially wonderful and authentic.

I liked the place, partly because it was picked specially for me by my hosts as I was visiting Schertz for a couple of days.Mexican food isn't a big thing where I come from, so they wanted to treat me, which I appreciated hugely. They are Schertz born and bred so knew what they were doing. But despite their wonderful kindness, a lovely welcome and the good service, I thought it was a very average lunch. The portions were small and the food just wasn't interesting at all. The most memorable Mexican meal I ever had was at a place called Pepper's in Pacific Grove, just along the coast from Monterrey in CA. It was a knockout - see the reviews on TA - and maybe it was foolish to expect the same from here.Thing is, my hosts loved it, it was very busy with what appeared to be regular customers who seemed very happy, so I guess I missed the point or ordered something that wasn't a speciality. If I go back to Schertz - I do love the town - I'll give Garcia's a call, just to be sure!
