I have eaten at this restaurant many times over the past few months and it is far and away the best Mexican restaurant in Hammond. They have a fresh and different take on the standard Mexican fare. The service is prompt and courteous and the food is always hot. The taquitos Mexicanos is outstanding with the shredded beef and the shrimp chimichangas have a delightful crunchy shell that does not get soggy within a few minutes of being served. The guacamole is the best I've tasted in any restaurant with the hints of lemon and garlic... present but not overpowering. My companion is a beer drinker and loves the Victoria beer that, apparently, only this restaurant serves. For dessert, I highly recommend the flan. The only unfortunate issue with this restaurant is it's location. No restaurant has survived there since Shoney's closed. I urge everyone to make the effort to visit this restaurant. Let's not let this one slip away.

Kinda like fast food Mexican style. I had a beef, chicken and shrimp fajitas. Normally this comes out in a sizzling platter. Not here. Also, just a few shreds of chicken and beef. The shrimp were soft and mushy too.

"This place is temporarily closed."
We have eaten here several times during the week since they offer daily specials:Monday: Taco Salad for $5.99 Tuesdays: $.99 Taco - Ground Beef & Shredded Chicken, $2 Taco - Barbacoa, Al Pastor, Carnitas, Carne Asada, Fish, Grilled Shrimp, Grilled Chicken, SteakWednesday: Fajitas for 2 for $20 Thursday: College Night - $4 margaritasFriday: $5 Small Bloody MarySaturday: Margarita pitchers Sunday: Lunch Menu & Margarita pitchersThe food is always fresh and tasty. Service can be spotty, there is a certain waitress we try not to sit at her table because she seems to space out that she has customers to wait on, but for the most part, all the other wait staff are very friendly and helpful. My favorite meal there is the Monterrey Lunch/Dinner. I order the grilled shrimp, it comes with rice and steamed vegetables (I always ask them just for the broccoli and carrots and so far they have been very accommodating since I don't care for the other vegetables in the medley). This is a light meal and delicious. I would highly recommend giving this a try. It is not as noisy as some of the other Mexican restaurants around which we enjoy.

I was quite pleasantly surprised at the quality of my dish here -- fish tacos -- especially since I was just traveling quickly through after a trip to Mexico itself. (I can never get enough Mexican food!). A friend had a burrito and wasn't quite as impressed, until he cut up some of the cooked jalapeño that had been served with my tacos at which point his opinion shifted into the more positive realm. So just be sure to ask for some extra punch if you need it. It's a small corner restaurant, cefe-style, on a corner in downtown Hammond. Much more casual than the bigger Mexican restaurants in town...quick and friendly service on the night I was there despite there being a huge number of kids and families outside the door for an early trick-or-treat event. I'd definitely go again.

If you're looking for good Mexican food and entertainment, Mi Patio is the place. With a full service bar, a varied menu and a stage for live productions, this place can be rocking during the week and weekend. You can expect all the traditional Mexican fare there from taco, burritos etc. along with shrimp and steak dishes. Good place in an out of the way area.

The best of the American-style Mexican restaurants in this area.
We eat at LaCarreta frequentlyâlunch and dinner. Menu items are equitably priced compared to similar Mexican restaurants, with preparation and presentation consistent from one time to the next. The white queso appetizer is good enough to make a meal and the margaritas are excellent. For those of us forced to be gluten-free, there are a number of selections available, which is always a bonus.
