Restaurants in Pecos
I'm a long-term, non-resident professional working in town. I've been in EVERY restaurant including El Rodeo, at least twice.Recently I tried Rodeo again, to give it another chance after my last visit 6 months ago, which was acceptable, just not great. I was pleasantly surprized! I went on a weekday about 12:30 p.m. and caught their buffet. It included a salad bar, homemade green enchiladas, baked chicken and several vegetables. I intentionally tried a small sample of many items to get a feeling of how they stack up now. They passed on every measure. OK... it is safe to eat here! Which is not always to be said of restaurants that occupy vacated McDonald's buildings. Price was competitive -- about $10 for all you can eat. I'll go back.

We have enjoyed eating at this restaurant for the last 33 years. Family owned, good food, great hot sauce.Traditional Mexican food, you will not be disappointed!

The food is really good here. But it's Pecos, which means it costs way more for the same items than anywhere else. And the common theme of the town is Customer Service sucks. The whole town is this way. I do like this restaurant. Give it a try. I've been here 3 times and the food has been good each time.
Permian Cafe is dedicated to being leaders in cuisine by serving up hot and fresh meals across the Permian Basin. We promise to deliver exceptional quality to our guests.
Despite having an exceptional hotel in the Best Western Swiss Chalet, Pecos offers few desirable dining options. After reading the rave reviews of Permian Cafe on TripAdvisor, we made a point to find it (not easy) and went in with the intention of enjoying a great dinner there. We were surprised to see that it resembled a mess hall or dorm cafeteria rather than a restaurant -- no ambiance whatsoever. We checked out the self-service salad bar, which looked OK, and walked over to the hot food station. The night we stopped, all they offered was spaghetti with meat sauce and baked chicken, neither of which appealed to us, so we went elsewhere. The food may well have been very tasty, but we were looking for a pleasant place to eat as well as good food.

This little restaurant has a simple menu with lots of variety. We tried the BBQ dinner. The meat was tender and tasty. It was thick slices of brisket. It was served with a bowl of barbecue sauce that tasted like it had a vinegar base. The sauce was ok but not what I prefer. The sides were potato salad and pinto beans. Both sides were good but nothing special. It was good basic food. We also tried the green beans that were cooked with onions, bacon and spices. The green beans were quite good. The service was friendly and quick. The atmosphere was noisy with several televisions. Overall, the restaurant was a good solid local restaurant with good prices.

We've been buying tamales from here for years! They have established a reputation for their tamales and they do not disappoint. They also offer a taco bar, which I've tried on more than one occasion and it's very good. The only downside is on the weekends when they offer menudo. It's so good, they run out of their menudo and tamales, so you need to make sure you get their early so you don't miss out!

Anyone who enjoys a Mexican food, and has sampled Mexican Food restaurants around the country, know there are huge differences between those restaurants. Especially if the food is Guatemalan, Yucatán, etc. That said, the food at Alfredoâs is decent. The salsa was good and the chips crispy, not greasy. The servings are quite small for the price, and for my burrito, it cost me an additional 2$ for the red sauce, or to make the burrito âwetâ. I donât feel the food warranted the cost, and they only serve beer. The folks running the restaurant are nice and efficient. Since we were simply passing through, a return visit will never happen.
