My wife had a âplain Janeâ hamburger and I had a chili relleno. My wifeâs burger was plump and she said was very tasty. My chili relleno was excellent and was spicy hot. This âfast foodâ restaurant has a large food selection...you can always find something, even for the picky eater. It is a bit pricy and eating from styrofoam containers diminishes from the experience for eating high quality meal.

A bit more innovative than your typical Mexican restaurant, offering multiple protein choices for each dish and a condiment bar with expanded hot pepper and salsa options. They've recently upgraded their Margaritas: a real treat!Bright, light open atmosphere. More diner or bistro than Mexican look.Good view of Pagosa Peak (in daylight!) from the bar side.

Love the location of the patio overlooking the river. The food was good. We shared the fajitas with beef and chicken. There was a lot of guacamole and sour cream for each of us. We also ordered queso, but it was not very good. However, there was a lot in the serving.

This is a very nice place to eat. The service was great ( and we had a large party). They have the best beans that I have ever had in a Mexican restaurant! Everyone enjoyed what they got.

The Mexican food is excellent on an absolute scale, no provisos for Pagosa being a small town. I've had Mexican food all over (including Tucson, Santa Fe and Mexico City), and Chavolo's is still among the best! I love their fresh-pickled vegetables (jalapenos, onions, carrots and tomatoes) that they use to top their carnitas.

We visited Kip's twice in two days with our group, by popular vote. The first time 6 of us were on the patio and enjoyed various street tacos. My brother got the Pilewski, which was huge! Food and drinks, especially the margaritas, were enjoyed by all. The next night our experience was marred a bit by a bartender who really didn't know what she was doing. We sat in the bar waiting for a table, and she had no clue how to make a Manhattan (even when given directions), and diluted the Sangria with soda water! The food was again great, and we loved listening to the live music. So maybe stick to beer and margaritas for drinks, and enjoy the tacos!
