Baldo's is a little family-owned place that serves regional food. Their Santa Fe burrito ($11, including refried beans & rice) is the best burrito around in my opinion. The only thing that would make it better would be if it was smothered in a home-made green chile sauce instead of in a guac sauce. They have a buffet, which my husband likes because it includes ribs. Service is always friendly.

Ive been eating here since it was called the Farmers Buffet in Center, CO. The Rios family does not disappoint! Their refried beans and red enchilada sauce are one of a kind delicious, cocktails are great and locally brewed beer on tap, and a fried ice cream for dessert is decadent. Order the Mexican Chicken Fried Steak, Schulz style.

Arriba!! on our way to Durango and found ourselves a bit hungry mid-afternoon and found ourselves in small town of Monte Vista. Drove down a road just to check out place and found a Mexican restaurant open mid afternoon in the awkward time before dinner and after lunch. Had place to ourselves and Paula our waitress greeted us and was very friendly. Was pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food. Ordered standard Mexican fair beef tacos platter w/refried beans and rice. Noticed right away the freshness of the beans and asked if they made on site and Paula confirmed chef made it that day. Food was top notch in taste and quality. If you find yourself driving through Monte Vista and hankering for some decent Mexican food, please do stop in @ Ninos and enjoy a bite. Cold beer and decently made margaritas also. If you know what Horchatas are this is the place to have them, authentic and thirst quenching and cant stop at just one glass. Thanks Paula and Nino's for a pleasant mid afternoon siesta. Peace, rcp

Coffee, doughnuts, breakfast.
Freshly made Bavarian creme filled donut! Need I say more?! Monte Vista is a bit like a ghost town, which is too bad, but this little gem was bustling!

We stop here during the summer as it is my favorite Mexican restaurant. The buffet is small but mighty. All your favs are there, enchiladas, tacos, chili rellenos, posole, menudo, rice pudding and flan. They also had baked fish, fried chicken, broccoli and a full salad bar. Service is attentive and friendly and the whole meal was excellent and memorable. See you next summer.

We found this place a year ago on our yearly trip to the San Luis Valley. We loved it then, and we loved it now! It looks "iffy"--attached to a washateria. Inside the door, however, the most wonderful home style New Mexican food is prepared with loving care. You will not be disappointed here!
