My husband and I dined here about 6-7 years ago and thought it was awful. I had the opportunity to try it again this week (as someone's guest) and was assured that it had improved since then. Sadly, it had not. While it was nice that we were served both a hot and a milder salsa with our chips, both were over-processed (not chunky at all, almost pureed), and both had an odd flavor. I would not call either of them authentic Mexican salsa at all. However, I would say it was definitely better than my last visit, where the salsa was more like a marinara sauce. For my entree, I had steak fajitas, served with beans and rice. Can't really screw up fajitas, but the steak was just so-so. However, the beans were ok at best, and the rice was terrible. I think I only took two bites of each.Our waiter was very nice and gave us good service, but the kitchen was slow, and it took quite a while for our meals to be served. It was a weeknight, and they were not that busy, so I'm not sure why it took so long.It's a shame the food isn't better here, because the dining room is lovely and the atmosphere is nice. You feel like you're in the middle of a little Mexican village.(side note: there are two listings/addresses for Little Mexico on TripAdvisor - they are the same place. I think they changed locations several years ago. I actually think the other listing is their current location, but all of the recent reviews were posted to this one,)

We've been eating at Little Mexico nearly 40 years -- I thought the meal we had there Memorial Day weekend 2015 was the best ever. It's always been good, but this last visit was extraordinary. We go to Texas nearly every year and we think Little Mexico's food is better than the best Tex-Mex. We eat there every time we're back in Coles County. Best salsa, enchiladas, tacos and especially tamales. Soooo good!

Though this is the chain Taco Bell establishment, it is newly remodeled and very clean and comfortable. Service is speedy and all items we have ordered have been served hot. Frankly, these are the best crispy tacos in town.

Been here several times having had the Chili Colorado, Carnitas tacos and their dinner burritos.Service was prompt, food was hot and fresh and prices reasonable.Will return and recommend it to anyone who appreciates authentic Mexican cuisine.Thank you for the great review! I just ate here for the first time tonight and it was good. The salsa was good and the Guacamole was like your homemade kind. The Chili Renenos were wrapped in egg like an omelette; didn't care for that as much, but the Chili Renenos were large and good. The mini Taquitos were also good. I like that they have both booths and tables; great for families, etc.Thank you so much for taking the time to leave us a review!!! We appreciate it very much. Enjoyed lunch specials here. The tamale was huge and covered with shredded chicken, tacos were fresh and delicious as was the rice. Complimentary chips and salsa were great as well. This place was busy on Sunday about noon but we didn't have to wait, they're quick and food was delicious. Thank you for the great review! We appreciate you taking the time to let us know!
