Things to do in Lufkin
Went to the Taqueria which shared a parking lot with the Lufkin Inn. I had a chicken super nacho AND a beef super burrito. Way to much food but everything looked so good. The nachos were crispy...chicken was tender and lots of it and guacamole too to go with the tasty cheese. The burrito was big....covered in sauce with rice and salad. Washed it down with a Mexican coke. Lots of taste and hardly anything over $10 on the menu. Well worth it.
Family owned and operated! We use mama's recipes and are NOT in competition with any franchises :) if mama didn't serve it to use growing up we will not have it on our menu. 7 awards in 7 years and proud to be a mom and pop burrito shop
This is a great small local owned eatery. They offer a "build your own burrito" bar with a lot of freshly made options. They have burritos, burrito bowls, salads, nachos, tacos and many other menu options. The owner is there on an everyday basis, wether behind the bar making your food or chatting around the dining room with customers. They offer a homemade juice almost daily (my favorite is the watermelon!) and use all recipes passed down from their family. My favorite is the Baracoa burrito, slow cooked and delicious! Also, I always get homemade chips and queso or guac!
This place is small so it's easy to miss but try to find your way here! It's tiny and cute, seating is minimum and everything is done up in bright spanish colors. You will feel like your in a small back door mexican restaurant and there's nothing wrong with that! Try the quesadillas, they are huge and to die for. Pricing is agreeable.

Restaurant was recommended by hotel staff and noted as very popular with the locals and always busy.It was busy but certainly not crowded on a Wednesday evening around 7:00.The server was very helpful and concerned about my satisfaction. I appreciated his efforts....The food was unimpressive. Chips were sturdy and good for dipping; neither the green nor red sauce inspired me to dip. Red sauce was thinking and bland; green sauce was weird.....it was so green I thought it belonged in an Irish bar - it didn't taste like any green sauce I have had before. The beef fajita flauta had nicely flavored meat; the cheese sauce was mild with a slight jalapeno undertone. Too bad I don't like jalapenos. The spinach enchilada was a huge disappointment - I expected fresh spinach, but that stuff came out of a can - ugh!!!Perhaps a different menu choice on my part would have been better, but I won't be trying again. The restaurant atmosphere was pleasant and the prices very reasonable.

My grand daughter has stage 4 Hodgekins Lymphoma. She attends Central School. Her school counselor called restaurants and got meals donated for Jayde so they could eat while she was traveling to have chemo treatments or just a nice night out for her family. The cost of taking care of a child with cancer is enormous. The GM that wrote the coupon is no longer there. The new manager there did not want to honor the coupon, even after my daughter gave them the coupon before they ate. I think its a sad day when a manager doesn't want to honor a coupon that was given to a cancer patient, and on top of that told my daughter that she made that up. She called her a liar. Its a sad day!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I won't ever ever eat there again and I was a loyal Posados customer. Not any more!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We don't eat fast food tacos often but Taco Casa has some that will give anywhere a run for their money. Piled high with cheese and dripping in awesome, Taco Casa has some pretty good food! The sweet tea seems to be the biggest crowd pleaser.

Hard to find - a hidden jewel that you have to look for on 1st street. Good parking. When we entered, we were immediately greeted by our server, Hector. I asked Hector what he recommended, and he recommended something that I ordered. The food was great. Attentive service. Wonderful food. Wonderful salsa! Very clean. A place that I want to go back to and try other things on the menu.

La Unica provides 100% authentic mexican food to the Lufkin, Timberland TX and the surrounding areas.
Went here for lunch. Noticed that all of the people eating lunch where wearing "blue-collar" work uniforms. This is the kind of place where hard-working locals eat good food for a good price, Great food at great prices. Very clean. Very pleasant, gracious service.

After arriving in Lufkin,Texas, we were craving some Mexican and after reading the reviews we thought we would check it out. The restaurant was clean, the front staff were cleaning menus so thumbs up, our server was very good and the margaritas(which were no charge for some reason) were delicious!! My husband loved the salsa that came complementary before the meal but thats about where it ends. Our meals were ok and not the most flavourful. We were both shocked at how salty everything was. Like they could have added half the salt and it would have been better so have to just say this was an average meal but very affordable so we don't feel like we spent a fortune on salt.

Stopped in on our way through town on a Sunday afternoon thinking we would beat the church crowd. We were wrong because apparently this place is extremely popular with the locals because before 11:00 there already was standing line waiting to get seated. The tamales with Tijuana sauce were excellent.
