Nice new place on the north edge of town. Taco supreme shells broke easily, but the cheap ones were better.

It baffles me when small-town restaurants feel the need to charge $12-15 for Mexican food! We are talking beans, rice, and tortillas with a sprinkling of meat and cheese and I think we all know how inexpensive that should be. It certainly is not the atmosphere - - this is an old A&W drive-in!I have found La Hacienda to be hit-and-miss on their food but they always offer great service. The ground beef items have been fairly consistent but the other beef entrees tend to be pretty tough. The refried beans are usually good but have occasionally been a bit undercooked. And the rice sometimes contains a few mystery ingredients suggesting they may have been cleaning out the fridge and using whatever was left over.I will probably go back but cannot say it's a favorite.
Up early, and our motel having a pretty poor breakfast offering, we stopped here. We were pleasantly surprised. I found a breakfast bowl with meats, potatoes and eggs to be filling and tasty. My wife tried a couple of tacos equally good. There is a large selections of salsas to choose from, and the service is prompt.

While the food is decent, the overwhelming lingering effect was that the restaurant was closing. This has happened twice. We arrived at 8:35pm. Advertised hours are 11am to 10pm. Soon after we sat down, staff started to vacuum part of the dining room. And sweep other parts. Our waitress was nice and the food was decent but we got the sense it was time to go. When the waitress brought our ticket, at 9:20pm, she came with a cloth to wipe tables! Get there early!

This little 'taco truck' has fantastic Mexican food. They are speedy and the food is wonderful. Old fashioned carhops come to your car and take your order. Then they deliver your food directly to you piping hot and tasty. My only complaint is their parking lot is too small!

My husband loved his beef burrito! It was made with all the ingredients he wants in it. My nacho chips were a tad stale and I had read they would have a hint of lime, but they didnât. Boo Hoo! ;-). They were still good. The SOUP is simmering behind the counter on the cook top and it smells so devine! The sweet ladies offered me a taste. And, though I had already ordered and paid for the nachos, after tasting their soup I ordered some! The layers of flavor were so delicious and I wish I knew their recipe! Besides the food, the little restaurant is a feel good place! The ladies working there are so kind and helpful and proud of their restaurant. I wanted to be there. I donât speak Spanish, and I think their English is a far second language, but that did not matter... it was easy to connect and communicate with these sweet ladies. If I lived near, I would go back often and take home soup to steep on my stove top too! :-)

There are several Mexican options in town, though most are hole-in-the-wall places (sometimes the best!). This one seems to be everyone's consensus pick as the best of the Mexican and one of the best in town overall. Well, we were disappointed. We were here somewhat late on a Friday night. A good sign is that the place was crowded - packed, in fact - and we were lucky to get a table. However, the place was filthy... with crud all over the floor. After seating us, it took them 15 minutes to bring us menus, then another 20 before somebody took our order. It was well over another half hour before food arrived... and it was cool, likely having sat somewhere where a waitress forgot to pick it up. As Mexican places go, the food was definitely mediocre.Needless to say, this'll be the last time we eat here. When we passed through town a week later, we got takeout from Wendy's and were much happier.
