Family run business that serves very good food. Try an order of their flour chips (you have to buy the flour chips; corn chips are free). I had the taco and enchilada combo, chicken for both. Both were very good. I like their crunchy taco shells. Nice people own the business, work here. You can't go wrong heading to La Placita for Mexican food!
This is one of our "go to" places when you have had a crazy day and are in the mood for quick Mexican takeout for your hungry family! They have generous portions, a substantial garden salad, good fajitas, and my kids like their kids meals. They have reasonable prices, and good dine-in service. Takeout service is....not so great. You will be told "ten minutes or fifteen minutes", however your takeout order is rarely ready when you arrive at the time you were told. The owner will greet you with "we are busy". Our biggest issue with Lolita's has been that you have to check your takeout order. In our experience these past many years, 99% of the time our takeout orders have been wrong. I have spoken to the owner about this, and he always responds "I didn't write that down". Ugh. If you can't remember everything (and frequently mess up your takeout orders) doesn't it make SENSE to write it down? We have not been able to get this rectified, so we have made it a habit to check our order thoroughly before we leave the restaurant. It has been inconvenient, but we do like Lolita's for a quick Mexican meal so we continue to patronize them.My kids ordered the churro dessert a couple of times, the dough was raw and runny in the middle so we haven't ordered that again. The jalapeño poppers are good, the cheese nachos are good - if they don't run out of cheese (this happened once and he actually gave us nachos without cheese!). I brought this up also, and he said "sorry, we were out of cheese". Um, shouldn't you DISCLOSE that to the customer before you take the order? As I mentioned, a good choice for a quick Mexican meal. Just be careful to check your takeout orders! If they make a mistake on dine-in orders, those can easily be rectified. However, on takeout orders, it is frustrating to drive all the way home, and discover they forgot an entree (or more) while your hungry family is waiting! Not fun to have to drive all the way back to the restaurant to pick up what they forgot the first time.

Do not go there and expect traditional Mexican food. The menu did have burritos and tacos on it, but fresh and tasty combinations. They have green rice made with cilantro that is very fresh tasting. The chips come with mole and salsa that were both really good. We sat outside on the patio. Our waitress was really knowledgable about the menu and helped us make some great choices. There were black beans, not refried. Everything tasted very healthy and good for you.

A very busy little restaurant with authentic Mexican food. Itâs not what Iâm used to, but still tasted great. Good sized portions. We drove right past because the sign does not say âMezcalitoâ and it doesnât look like a restaurant. Great experience for out-of-towners. Picture is of the carnitas (shredded pork).

Like everyone else who's been a student in their life, I've been to dozens of Taco Bell restaurants over the years. They're all supposed to be putting out the same product and the same way from every unit, but unfortunately the people that run this one don't do the required amount of training to get consistent food results. Specifically, the amount of ground beef in the tacos can vary from literally almost nothing to your average Taco Bell taco if you are lucky, almost always on the short side of being what you paid for with normal Taco Bell expectations. You get the feeling you're being shorted intentionally in order to increase profits from what may be a not very profitable location, even though it's been here since at least the early 1980's if not before then. Just a few days ago I ordered a half dozen crispy tacos, and there was about 1/4 inch of beef in most of them, weighing about an ounce. They were all just shredded lettuce with some cheese sprinkled on top in most of the taco. Totally unacceptable! This happens very frequently here, so it isn't just a one time occurrence I'm complaining about. Order burritos instead and you won't stay hungry like you will on the skimpy tacos.

It's the Wandering Yank here. I used to live in Granite Bay and ate here dozens of times, usually ordering the excellent chorizo burrito. Most Mexican restaurants don't offer chorizo, so that set El Sombrero apart. So when I returned to GB after a few years, I had to have one.And I was not disappointed! The restaurant has expanded next door and now offers several draft beers, so a Sierra Nevada Pale Ale was greatly appreciated. The burrito was fresh and flavorful, just like I remember. Fresh unlimited tortilla chips and multiple salsas are always there in the back.2 thumbs up!

Stopped by for dinner. Casual atmosphere, limited server staff but friendly. The guacamole was quite good to start. The taco/tostado combination was quite good. The bean/rice burrito was good. I would say this is standard Mexican cuisine with generous portions.

We have tried all the other Mexican restaurants in the area, and continually return to Bernardo's. The service is good, and the food is authentic and excellent! The portions are large, and there is usually enough for lunch the next day!

Very loud Mexican music that they did turn down a bit. Service was good but the food was quite bland, tasteless almost. The Mexican beer, however, was good, but hey, how can you go wrong with bottled beer from Mexico? This is the first time in a Mexican restaurant that we've had to pay extra for corn chips and salsa. We won't be going back again.

A friend mentioned this restaurant to us. We were delighted to find that although the menu didn't have many vegetarian listings, the chef was happy to alter dishes to fit our needs. Everything was really good and the staff couldn't have been more anxious to please, helpful and attentive, making sure everything was good and keeping us in chips, salsa and soda. There were quite a few people there, mostly families because it was early. It looked like many of the customers were regulars, which also is a good sign. The prices were pretty reasonable and portions generous. The caring attitude of the staff made us feel like we were almost family.
