We stopped for lunch at El Tapatio Mexican Restaurant after driving through the Colorado National Monument. There are national franchise âMexicanâ restaurants on two sides of ETMR. Clearly El Tapatio is the better choice. Thereâs a huge menu, good service and good food. Plenty of parking and easy to find.

Fiesta Guadalajara will more than satisfy the Mexican cravings of most Americans. The menu offerings and food quality are all fine, if not special in any way. Those used to truly authentic Mexican/Southwestern food will find it underwhelming.

We just found this place and this is our second visit in a week. We moved to Fruita two years ago and missed Mexican food from southern New Mexico. What a find!
We like our tacos like we like our bikes: hot, fast and made with high-end components. So, we use the freshest ingredients, organic and locally sourced when available, house made flour tortillas and we make each taco to order. Our menu may change due to i
This is just such a cool and local spot for breakfast. It is a food stand just across from the Circle Park in downtown Fruita. They serve breakfast only and the menu is pretty simple: breakfast tacos (you can get one that is without tortillas - in a bowl). No meat is served. The tacos are all a variation of eggs, beans, potatoes, cheese (cotija or queso dip), avocados, and salsas. The tortillas are freshly cooked on a flattop. I love the migas taco (eggs cooked with crunchy tortillas and onions sauteed with eggs and then into a tortilla with avocado and queso). But, everything is great. They offer 3 salsas - pico, green tomatillo and hot habanero. All good, but the habanero IS HOT.The fun part is that things are made to order, so you usually spend time chatting with others in the long line. Worth the wait!!
