Things to do in Farmingdale
We stopped in recently at a new restaurant in Farmingdale. El Burro is located where the ice cream shop used to be that closed a couple years ago. They are a Mexican restaurant which was lacking in the area Upon entering we saw the entire place was renovated with not much of a hint of what was there before. The decor is nice. There were three employees near the front counter and they greeted us and motioned us to the dining room. Our server was a friendly young woman who took our order and brought out water and the chips and salsa we ordered for appetizer. The chips were tasty and thicker than other places and the fresh salsa was good. We ordered a combination of burritos, enchiladas and tacos which came with rice and beans. All were made well and portions were good but they could have used a bit more flavor. A little extra red onion and cilantro would have made them top notch. Prices were reasonable. As a new place they seemed to be still finding their groove but thereâs a lot of promise there. It wasnât busy while we were there but I have the feeling that once word gets out that wonât last for long. Overall good food and good experience.

stopped in for lunch with my son who recommended Juanito's. I ordered the pork fajitas which I was really looking forward to, my son got the tamal and chimichanga in green salsa. A nice sized basket of chips and a fairly large molcajete of salsa roja was brought out promptly. The wait for our meal was a little long but there was a big party of 12-15 people who preceded us.The salsa roja was tasty but it lacked salt and was ice cold as if it had been in the refrigerator and was poured into the bowl. The chips were good although they lacked salt. The main courses: the peppers and onions in the fajitas came out piping hot but the pork was cold, dry, tasteless and tough. I felt that I was eating left over pork that was reheated. These were the worst fajitas I have every had. I liked the rice, guacamole and the beans and as a matter of fact, the beans were my favorite item.My son's tamal was huge but the masa was dense, not tender and moist like a tamal should be. He said the salsa verde was great and he, too, enjoyed the rice and beans. The chimichanga was ok. There was enough food that we were able to take some home.If I'm in that area again I may stop by once more. Aside from the big group other tables were filling up. I won't go out of my way to go there. The wait staff was very attentive and the restrooms were spotless.

Count me among the many here who are truly confused by the good reviews. Never before have I experienced the curt/rudeness of waitstaff as I did at Reynas. We visited at 7pm on a Sunday evening when the restaurant was maybe half-full. We stood there waiting for quite some time, completely un-acknowledged. Eventually, not having been here before, we assumed the lack of attention (not even eye contact) that perhaps we were meant to seat ourselves...so we sat at one of the (many) empty tables. Perhaps another 10 minutes later, the waitress finally approached our table and proceeded to berate us. Had we not been waiting for another person in our party, I would have simply walked out at this point.Though she "allowed" us to stay in the end, the service was painfully, unforgiveably slow, and we never stopped feeling like they were doing us a favor by letting us eat here. If that isn't enough to convince you, our entire party found the food to be bland and forgettable. I have no idea how anyone is still coming here - honestly, you'd be better off staying home and making it yourself.
