We eat here once a year when we visit our friends and it never disappoints. Worth the wait. Great nachos, great margaritas, and delicious entrees. Santa Fe enchilada is delish and the special Cuban steak also a winner. So friendly and we are always happy to visit.

Food was fantastic. Got the Mahi-mahi. Huge serving done perfectly. Seafood stew was fantastic. 3 huge scallops, lobster tail about a dozen muscles (plump and juicy), and about a half dozen jumbo shrimp all swimming in a lobster bisque. Broth was worth it alone. Only down side is it can get noisy depending on who is at the bar. Service was very attentive without being in the way. For what you get both in quality and volume the bill was super reasonable. Will be back again.

Charlottesville seems focused on good, cheap Mexican spots. When one surveys a menu at higher than those price points, one is bound to ask, "Is this going to be worth it?" El Jaripeo has a menu that goes beyond the typical Tex-Mex fare in town, and the food is good and worth trying. Everything tasted fresh and the server was appropriately attentive. The space itself is large and impersonal, and the music was way too loud considering it was lunch time and relatively empty. Still, it's worth checking out if you want to try a different menu . . . and you have a bit more cash than what you're used to expecting.
