Friday night takeout--we tried both kinds of tacos, gordito, sope, tamale... all were really delicious. The food reminded me of the wonderful place we ate it in Tulum Mexico (see review on Antojitos La Chiapaneca). If you think some of the mainstream "mexican" options in our area lack authenticity and are disappointing, give this place a try!

I never realized this Mexican restaurant jewel was in Hockessin. It is located off of Lancaster Pike in the small center next to Quinn's Cafe. Parking is availabe throughout the parking area for all the businesses. There is a good range of seating to include bar and small tables to the dining area tables. The menu is classic mexican but the specials are a wide range. The food was prepared to order and was very good. The atmosphere is nice and allowed us to have a good conversation while we enjoyed our food.Muchas Gracias DiAIJo for the wonderful review! I'm glad you found us and you had a great experience here with us! I could not have written a better description of our restaurant. Thank you again.
We have become semi-regulars now and we love El Limon. They offer consistently fresh, delicious, well prepared food. They now have fountain soda (Coca Cola products) which I appreciate. We have the same server almost every time and he is polite, respectful, friendly and attentive. The food comes out quickly and it is always fresh and served at the correct temperature. There are two small tvs in the dining area. It's a casual place so it wouldn't be good for a fancy get together or a special occasion. It's more so for every day dining when you are in the mood for good Mexican food. The nachos are always delicious. They always have more toppings though and never enough chips. No one ever gets the ratio right. It's either too many chips and not enough toppings or tons of toppings and not enough chips. One time we asked for more chips, which we were brought, but when our bill arrived we realized we were charged for them. It wasn't a huge deal but I think we should have been told there was a charge. The cheese enchiladas are soooo good. Just the right cheese to tortilla ratio. The tomatillo sauce is extremely flavorful. The rice and beans are also good! My man usually gets a burrito. He doesn't like their sauces too much so he goes with a dry burrito so he can also hold it instead of cutting it up. They have single stall bathrooms. They look and smell clean. Open kitchen concept. Kitchen and dining areas also very clean. Highly recommend checking this place out!

The food is what you are generally offered at Mexican restaurants. The lunch specials are good because the portions are smaller. .

Come here late mid-week for lunch when it was not overly crowded and noisy. The wait staff was very attentive and informative and recommended the daily cerviche which was fantastic. The inclusion of mango to counter the lime was an unexpected and most welcome touch to the appetizer. I really don't like tuna but tried my friend's burrito do tuna and was hooked. Had a burrito which was just incredible with seared ahi tuna, chipotle aioli, avocado and red cabbage coleslaw; it had a nice kick of heat that lingered without overwhelming the palate. The tortilla was slightly grilled and was among the best I have ever tasted. Can highly recommend the short rib burrito as well. The accompanying side salad was plentiful. The food is fresh, and dishes are creatively constructed. A pitcher of water was brought to the table which is rarely done and was most appreciated. If you do not like Mexican food, please reconsider and try this place out. If you do, you are going to be thrilled.
