Why? The chef and his crew will use only the freshest options available for the day to prepare a lovely meal. We had a three course chef inspired dinner, and the kitchen staff was able to meet the gluten-free as well as a no fish request for our group of six. You feel a if you are in the chef's home and he has welcomed you to relax and enjoy while he does the hard work. Grilled endive, baby scallops in mango sauce, Stuffed pepper with mole and pomegranate, Bar-b-que lamb, coconut sorbet, molten chocolate cake, and the list goes on! Nice wine options as well. Get good directions as it is in a non-descript building.

We had a fabulous time there eating lunch, with our Mexican friends, that we always visit. Boca de Tomatlan is a real hidden treasure! I like the isolation there , and the beautiful river that runs through the town to the bay. This restaurant is family owned and operated ,by mother and children. Erick is such a good waiter, and so friendly! We really enjoyed his humor too! The costs are very cheap , and the food is excellent Mexican real style food. What a great outing, as you can take the community bus for .60 cents American to get there from the Barceló hotel in Mismaloya, or more fun, take a boat from the locals which is 10 minutes away! We always do this , and combine snorkeling too with them. Ralph is AWESOME!!! Look for him by the public beach or in front of the beach at the hotel Barceló if you decide to go by boat. Ask SPECIFICALLY FOR HIM, as he will give you the best rates for any of the trips there. Tell him that" RUNA, sent us, the one who gave you the DC Shirt," and he will know and give you a good price. I like him a lot, because he is soooooo honest!! We had a great time with him!! Other boats seem to charge a lot more, as we found out after a trip to the hidden beaches there ,or Yelapa. Go snorkeling in the hidden coves by Boca de Tomatlan, then go eat lunch!! Your kids will love you for it, and don't forget the beautiful river there. Don't confuse the restaurant on the beach in Boca de Tomatlan, for the Restauran La Primavera, behind it, as it is hidden , and closer in town situated behind the beach area. This whole trip is so much cheaper than the excursions you pay for!!

Monday 16th April, early afternoon, and we visited here, we had just completed the Vallarta Adventures outdoor tour and we were in the small busy port awaiting the arrival of our speedboatto take us back to Nuevo Vallarta.We had a bit of time on our hands so we decided to have a beer and watch the activities going on around the place especially the small jetty/pier, everything from building bricks to fridges, food, vegetables and much more, being loaded on to small boats.The resturant is in a great location, with a small sandy beach in front (reviewed seperately) with some sunbeds and the pier nearby.The guy who served us was grumpy, miserable almost to the point of being rude. Think we paid about 30 Pesos each for 2 small bottles of beer.This place has so much in its favour, with the correct attitude from the staff, better still with new staff, it could be very good. We quickly finished our drinks and left.

Great little restaurant in Las animas beach directed to us by our private water taxi in Boca. Food was wonderful and service was great and provided drinks on the beach for us afterwards. Not impressed with their inattention to detail in informing us they add 15 percent tip to their bill automatically. We were given a verbal amount of what we owed and then proceeded to tip an average of 15-20 percent. As we left and started the calculation we knew they had received a greater that 35 percent tip. We went back the waiter had no answer so we received another dozen beer as compensation. Be careful. Otherwise great food. Less expensive down the beach if you stop directly off the dock. We will still go back but better educated as it was a very relaxing afternoon.

Los Mangos is a great beachside restaurant in this pueblo. The staff are the best. They will do anything they can to make your day. The food is excellent Mexican cuisine. Alonso is a great waiter...knows everybody and can help you to arrange other activities such as water taxi or boats for fishing, etc...but all the waiters are friendly and attentive.

15/5Once again we were here, thirteen months after our last evening meal visit (19/3/18 and review published 20/3/18).This time there was no Canadian woman serving as technically it was (just) off season, albeit still quite busy for late lunch on a Thursday, with North American tourists (and us) included amongst the Mexican tourists.We were assailed by a waiter as we got close so I assured him that we would be eating there. Luckily our favourite table on the beach by the pier was free at 12:43 and we grabbed it, the waiter rearranging the chairs under the parasol out of the sun. We sat down and were presented with the menus. First off were the drinks....two Micheladas (45) and a Negra Modelo (35).The prices on the menu had obviously gone up over a year (as they all have) but this is a special place and our 'regular'. It is also good value! I referred to my TA review iOS 'notes to find we awarded it 5/5 in March 2018.The drinks came quickly as well as the bowl of tortilla chips and bowls of halved tiny limes, finely chopped tomato salad and spicy tomato sauce. At 1pm we were toasting to the sea and a good meal ahead.The menu had the usual options and of course we stuck to sea food. My friend a fried red snapper with Garlic (160), our friend a Shrimp Burrita (200). I asked what the fish was for the Fish Sarandeado (330 a kilo) and it was also red snapper.The waiter introduced himself as Cairo and said he would bring a fish for me to see.Sure enough he came with a huge red snapper and said it was 1.2kg so around 390 pesos (£16) and caught this morning. Its eyes were brilliant and I said yes rather hastily. I was on the phone to a friend on San Francisco so was distracted! He said it would take half an hour but we were in no hurry.Off he went. We discussed the fact that it would feed all three of us so my friend's own red snapper could be cancelled. I rushed to the back kitchen to explain, cancel or ask for a smaller fish and take a photo of that glorious specimen! Cairo explained it was the only one he had and my friend's was already being fried. He was setting up the BBQ from scratch so I thought half an hour was optimistic. I took some pics of the fish.I returned to the table and my friend says he was obviously a salesman getting shot of a large (albeit fresh) fish to a gullible punter who was glad to be back again. He was also worried that the cook might cut a fillet off and serve it as the main dish for our friend (that has happened elsewhere where an obvious slice was taken out of the large whole fish I had ordered).At 1:30 my friends meals arrived. Mine was obviously going to take longer but my friend's Burrita was very large and tasty accompanied by a small salad.At 1:45 our friend's Red Snapper arrived and it was big whole fish (not a fillet as feared) with a salad and a scoop of rice and a dollop of refried beans. I could quite happily have ordered that as that is what I originally expected. I was still not sure just how much the fish would actually cost as it was estimated at at 2.5 times the cost.My friends tucked in and were very impressed with each dish. I was beginning to wonder if either of them could help me eat and finish my fish.At 1:56 my fish arrived on a metal tray lined with aluminium foil, butterflied and surrounded by big portions of salad and fruit with big bowls of beans and rice. On top of that huge meal for me the basket of tortillas was presented. I had taken my Michelaand tortilla chips very slowly so as not to lose my appetite; just as well I did!My friends were well into their generous meal so I concentrated on the fish. It was delicious with huge chunks of flesh able to be 'carved' off. This time we had knives and forks (in San Blas they do not use knives) and after ten minutes it became a bit overwhelming. Luckily my friend had finished his burrito and still had an appetite to help me out, although really forcing himself. My fish friend was very happy with what he had and could not assist me. After a while the task became rather onerous. This fish could have easily fed us all. if I had ordered it first and seen what was on offer then we would have concentrated on that only (as we did many years ago somewhere else). Eventually the fish was consumed, including the fiddly bits. By then I needed a beer to help it down as the sauce was very rich and overpowering. As my small plate filled with bones the waiter offered to replace it (standard practice as the small table could not accommodate large plates as there was too much food and accompaniments on it).When the fish was reduced to bones, fins, a tail and most of the head left I started (at 2:30) and finished the substantial garnish of fruit and salad. I could only manage a bit of the rice and could not face the beans (or their repercussions!). I had a few tortillas, chips with sauce and another beer. I was very full and as usual left my plate clan (save a bit of rice and all the beans, rare for me).A passing woman selling flans approached us with her delights and (albeit quite full) I bought a slice of nut pie (30) which we all shared. It was a delicious pecan pie (geared to North Americans no doubt) and rounded off the meal nicely. The waiter actually supplied us with tree plates and forks especially as this must be a deal they do as the restaurant does not offer deserts. I remember we did the same a previous year.Time for a dip! My friends changed in the (basic but as clean as any beach toilet can be) toilet. I was prepared already wearing my trunks under my trousers. Nobody batted an eyelid as I disrobed and walked into the slightly swelling water. The tables were cleared of all the dirty plates but the waiter was happy to leave the chips, sauces and bowls of beans and rice. He never hurried us off that table and our swims and walks were prolonged, although we did order another round of beers and Micheladas! He saw us coming but we were happy to be entertained by him. There were two or three other waiters too serving other groups, one couple I chatted to also had a lovely meal, drinks, swim, walkabout and more drinks.We had pride of place on the beach, other diners came and went whilst we enjoyed 4.5 hours at our table. We met the owner Juana, who remembered my friends from last year (but not me - no points knocked off though!). She obviously had employed a good salesman and we talked about the Canadian woman who had served us last year although Juana could not remember her. I think the Canadian helped out for being fed whilst staying there long term.We were expecting quite a big bill, not having actually had an actual costing for The Fish! Eventually we just had to leave this paradise and have a long walk around the bay and sit down on the beach to work it off! At 5:05 we ordered the bill and it arrived handwritten and an accurate 1105. The waiter had automatically added (an American size) tip of 15% to make it 1270pesos (£52) but we were not going to complain at that as we had had over four hours of eating, drinking, lounging, walking and swimming. We paid in cash, leaving no more than that as we still felt we had been oversold The Fish although £/kg it was a better deal than the standard fried fish my friend had. Last year our bill for a regular meal (no Big Fish) was 630 and they adde a 9% service charge automatically, so that has gone up! The atmosphere and people/activity watching was the same, although we got our feet wet with the occasional big wave!We left happy, as they were too, having shifted That Fish and sold quite a few beers and Micheladas! We bad farewell to the Juana, Cairo and even the kitchen staff who are often forgotten, working in intense heat.At some point I looked up the wifi as my 4G SIM had expired. Cairo said that there was no wifi as they have no signal, otherwise I would have looked up my previous TA menu postings (which I delete from my phone after posting). We had a good time again though, obviously, hence our returning to tat one table spot! We have not even ventured next door. You can obviously eat cheaper off the beach but this place is just fab. I think if you tried to have a swim mid meal on any of the posh or not so posh beach restaurants on the PV beach strip you may get some looks, comments or requests from management!BTW - This time we did not get our feet wet as we were eating! Next time......?

The windy walk up the cobblestone street is well worth it. Excellent food and service at unbeatable low prices. Our second trip. Thereâs no menu, the fresh food is presented and explained of a platter. We all had the red snapper with garlic. The margaritas were excellent and they gave us free small after dinner drinks. Really nice pet. Tremendous value.

We ended up dining at El Jacalito twice during our stay in Mismaloya simply because our experience during our first visit was so wonderful. Unlike dishes here at home, it was the main item that filled the plate, not the sides. My husband counted 18 jumbo shrimp on his plate! Ingredients are fresh (including in the drinks) which makes so much difference, the service was friendly and we were very comfortable in the open air dining room. Muey bien!

Beginning from the first person till the Last we met there, all were professional and superfriendly. To start from somewhere, Martinis perfect, wines perfect,starters perfect, main dishes perfect, desserts perfect, service unbelievebly perfect. Thank You Jorge, Pipi, Roberto, Chente, everybody in the kitchen and bar. It was nice to see real teamwork what they executed. We had table reservstion, practically must. Casual dress code, no shorts just to respect the restaurant. Mexican malbeck was perfect through the menu,mussels,tuna,fish,beef. All in the menu was tasty, from very high class materials. Service as mentioned before was all that a person can ask. There is absolutely nothing negative I could say about LeKliff. Very positive experience. Highly recommended. We landed here on a snorkeling tour. We were part of a work group who thought they were only going snorkeling only to find we were snorkeling, then going to an Adventure park for some climbing and zip-lining (next to Mike's), then a nice lunch at Mike's. It was buffet style for our group, which was good. But the best part? Were the home-made corn tortillas made right there and cooked on a hot pizza stone over a fire. Nice spot seemed only accessible by boat.
