They served three different salsas with the chips; something for everyone. Nice portions and the food was quite good. One in our party received her enchilada with meat rather than cheese. The server apologized and showed her the ticket. It was an error on the cooks part. Very convenient to the mission and the playhouse.

In a city where Asian food is everywhere along with all the usual American franchises, Pepe's is an oasis! All the usual Mexican-American dishes are on the menu and they are all good. One ultra important factor is Pepe's guacamole. It's real guacamole, probably better than what your mother or grandmother made. This guacamole is thick, too thick to be dispensed out of a plastic squeeze bottle. That watery stuff is really avocado sauce; you won't find it here. The usual selection of burritos is here plus some surprises. And while you're here, eating in the small patio, or going through the drive through which can be backed up onto the street and around the corner, be sure to wash it down with an Orange Bang, a Lemon Olè or one of the other soft drinks that seem to be available only in neighborhood eateries on L.A.'s east side. Whatever it takes to have a meal here, it's more than worth the wait!

We have been fans of Nomad since they opened. So much so that we visit whenever we are in town from the Bay Area and have ordered multiple boxes shipped of their delicious pops. Our favorites are Coconut Raspberry, Pistachio, Strawberry Mint and Fudgecado. Just a small shop, but super friendly staff and Geoff the owner is great.

This restaurant has been around forever. I love the margaritas here they are strong and inexpensive compared to some other restaurants in the area. I usually order the Chile Verde or Bean & Cheese burrito and it's enough food for two people. The only drawback is that their salsa needs to be spicy hot or have that option because its too weak for me.

I asked a Latina friend from L.A. to recommend her favorite genuine Mexican food restaurant. She sent me to Lupitas. The strip mall is small and this restaurant is located next to a Vittorio's pizza restaurant. The food prepared by Maria and company is excellent and authentic. Eat in or take out. Lunchtime, especially on the weekend is very busy and seating is limited.
