There are a few fine Mexican restaurants with exquisite slow cooked moles and the like for which I reserve the 5 stars. La Penca is right at the top of the next grouping with great service large servings and reasonable price. There are 2 locations Park St and the one we like on Bay Farm. Iâd go with the carnitas burro youâll get three meals

I had a chicken fajita that was great. My wife had the taco salad. Service was s little slow, but it was Friday afternoon during happy hour. Prices were moderate. We made a good choice for dinner. I recommend this place!!

Still good food after all these years and exceptionally friendly and accommodating staff. I have yet to try everything on the menu but I finally got as close as it's going to get to the half a tostada dinner like the Quintero family made so many years ago. Here's the trick: Ask for extra lettuce and cilantro on your ground beef tostada. Spoon some of the chip salsa on the tostada when it arrives. To be authentic old Acapulco, you need to leave off the sour cream and guacamole (although it is a nice addition) and request extra cheese. And voila, that's what you were used to if you grew up loving Acapulco Mexican food. Yep, it's close!! Enjoy! Can't go wrong with this local establishment!
Where to eat Bar food in Alameda: The Best Restaurants and Bars

We live at walking distance from here, so we've been here a few times since we moved in to Alameda. It's always nice to have a Mexican place nearby. We've tried different options: burritos, tacos, tamales, nachos. Food is generally good. The only thing I'm not very convinced about are their tamales, they were kind of flavorless, needed to add some of the different salsas from the bar to make them a little tastier. And the chips are sometimes too greasy.Other than that, the food is always very good and we always leave quite pleased. The people are always very nice and friendly too, and the salsas bar is a hit. Reasonably priced.Good enough to keep us coming back regularly.
Excellent Mexican food. I've been coming here for a few years and always thought they were better than the fancier place down the street with the bar. The cashier told me they changed ownership recently and I had noticed a few improvements since the last time I had been in. They have cheese enchiladas with green sauce now, my favorite. Thy also now use compostable take out containers.
