Stopped here for lunch on the way to Teruel as Casa Salvador carries a good reputation for rice dishes. Being early December it was not full but we had booked, which I would recommend as it is a bit out of the way and I can imagine it being very popular at times.A huge restaurant near the beach on the edge of the rice fields with a large terrace overlooking the river Estany. A series of large dining rooms with high ceilings and decorated in traditional style with a riverside terrace. Service was efficient and the waiters were friendly and obliging. The five of us had various starters, which were good but not particularly noteworthy and as none of them included the homemade plankton and seaweed mayonnaise, which is a speciality here, and having in our group two Spanish restaurateurs we asked for a taster to try it. The waiter was happy to do this however whilst the consistency was perfect the flavour was nothing special. For the main course we all had the rice with duck and eel which was very good indeed but not really outstanding and in that respect a little disappointing.Overall the food, ambience and service were all good and the wine list extensive however the food and wine was overpriced compared to other similar establishments.Obviously an institution, the place was full of mainly large groups of friends or families and seemed to be more of a destination than somewhere you would pop into for a good lunch.Apart from being overpriced there is nothing negative about Casa Salvador but I would not hurry back as there are many other restaurants providing the same standard of food and service but at better value. If you are in the area and want a good rice dish there is no reason not to go to Casa Salvador, you will not be disappointed, but be aware of the prices.Thank you Felipe for your opinion! We regret not having liked 100%. Explain that our dishes are made with fresh products of first quality, so we consider that the prices are adjusted to what we offer. In addition, our kitchen team has years of experience making rice and traditional Valencian dishes.Regarding plankton, clarify that it is plankton mayonnaise (as explained in the menu) and the algae we use in this dish are natural. As for the rest of the dishes, we see that they didn't completely conquer you, but since you don't explain what exactly you didn't like about the starters and the rice, it is difficult to know how we can improve for the future.Regards and we hope you will be encouraged to return to finish conquering!

We stopped for lunch on our way to the coast on bicycles. Our waiter, Jose, who spoke excellent English, was very helpful. There was a choice of three starters, three mains, three desserts and half a litre of liquid (wine, water, etc.) per person included in a very reasonable price - sorry can't remember exactly.

In a seaside town, even in the shoulder season, you would expect available seafood. But no, there was no seafood paella available. So the waitress recommended something else, which turned out to be gristly bits of meat swimming in greasy fideos. One bite and I didn't have anymore. I have never done that in my life - it's wrong to waste food and it's rude. But then so is serving what they served. My husband had half a roast chicken, which he enjoyed, but it came with fries soggy with chicken grease and three lonely pieces of zucchini. The salad that came with it was iceberg lettuce, tomato, canned corn, and a tablespoon of tuna. Desert was good. The restaurant seemed to be mostly Brits and Germans enjoying large amounts of beer. The pictures on tripadvisor make the food look so good - it isn't.agradecer su opinion, y invitarle a degustar nuestras especialidades, tanto de arroces, carnes, pescados y platos de cocina tradicional. si bien tambien comentarle que si en algun momento no cumplimos con sus espectativas hagasnoslo saber. estaremos encantados de subsanarlo.

The food was beautiful. We tried a variety of things from steak to paella, all equally good. We were the only people in the town with no Spanish and they had an English speaking waiter who was extremely helpful. We visited every day just to get tips from him on where to go and what to do. We could not have asked for better service. From the directive of Casa Macario restaurant, we thank you and we are glad to know that you enjoyed the stay in our restaurant. We expect to see you soon. Thank you for the visit and for the comment.

This is a wonderful family restaurant, run by Josep Valiente (3rd generation) who is the chef. and also personally served us. The appetizers were superb - fried squid (calamar) and small local red fish that I have never before tried, but were delicious. The restaurant inside is very nice, and rather formal, with linen tablecloths. Outside is informal, but also nice, right on the beach. The best part, though, was the main course. We reserved two days in advance an 'Arroz al Horno' (oven-baked rice), a typical dish of Valencia. The dish is baked in a ceramic dish in the oven, and contains all manner of pork - sausages, ribs, etc. - in addition to chick peas, tomatoes and potatoes. It was truly delicious. For the first time in my life, I was able to eat and enjoy blood sausage (morcilla). (I had tried unsuccessfully to eat this many times before.) Our desert, a mousse with warm chocolate sauce, was delicate and delicious. The restaurant also serves typical Valencia and seafood paellas, which do not require advance notice, since the preparation is less elaborate. It was delightful to have the opportunity to converse with Mr Valiente, the young chef/owner. It was our fortune to visit Valencia in the off-season, when school vacations had ended, and the beach was nearly deserted. If you are on or near this beach, visit Alzimar Restaurant, and enjoy traditional cooking of Valencia!

This restaurant is great for couples of family gatherings. Amazing (crecentine)bread is a must to try! The wild bore and vegetable pasta are amazing. The duck pasta is also great. The selection of cheeses and cold cuts is excellent too. Great selection of wines and desserts! Just an amazing place altogether. The owner Stefano will make you feel at home he is so passionate and welcoming. He makes the pasta fresh every day. All the servers are so competent and careful they can explain the whole menu with such detail and precision. Just great overall experience!

Gastro bar.diferente con productos excelentes. Disfruta de una alta cocina a un precio contenido. Ven a probar!
I've traveled all around the world and It's hard to find places where so much care to good quality product and preparation is taken. This place is a little gem not to miss. It's a pleasure for the senses and your body will thank you. It has a small menu that changes constantly. Gerard (the only cook & owner) takes great care to resource the best ingredients depending on the season and availability.
