Segovia is a picturesque old city with twisting alleyways, the highest concentration of Romanesque churches in all of Europe and pedestrian-only streets, all bordered by a medieval wall and two rivers. In 1985, this sleepy Castillan town was declared a World Heritage site by UNESCO. One of the main tourist attractions is Alcázar, a royal palace built sometime around the 11th century where Queen Isabel agreed to fund Christopher Columbus’ exploration of the New World. The picturesque palace is said to be Walt Disney’s inspiration for Cinderella's Castle.

We had a nice 3-course dinner for 25E each. It included bread, water and a glass of wine. I had the Monastery Salad, which included salmon on mixed greens. The main was tuna steak with roasted potatoes and desert was hazelnut brownie. Delicious. Hubby had the "Big Bean" soup, Baby Lamb Legs, and Cheesecake. He really liked the soup and the lamb. The cheesecake was presented in a jar and that affected the balance of the ingredients. Most of the problem was the 20:30 start time. We were exhausted from traveling from Barcelona and, as most Americans, used to dining earlier. Also, there was a huge party of about 15 ahead of us and we had to wait for them to be served every course. So, while we enjoyed the food, it was just the wrong time for us. We had lunch there in the bar the next day and that was just right. Good food, good service.

Very nice local place for cochnillo. It is just down the street from the entrance to the Alcazar so it is a good place to stop for lunch after visiting there (the route we took from the bus station took us to the Alcazar first).Cochnillo is a little under EUR 20.00 per person but in the window outside the restaurant, they have a "menu de casa" which is essentially like a menu del dia which you have to ask for when you sit down. This is about EUR 25.00 and includes a soup or beans as an appetizer (both fabulous), a drink, bread and a dessert. It was not busy when we were there and it is a shame quite a few people just walked by.Despite the location, quite a hidden gem!!

we reserved a table for a Tuesday evening. My husband wanted to try suckling pig while in Segovia. I mentioned i needed a gluten free meal and the waiter could easliy advise me on which dishes were suitable. The tables were set out with cleanly ironed table clothes, and highly cleaned glasses, they shone. The waiter was so professional and trained and he made us feel special The food was delicious and substantial. We both had house wine, my husband red and myself white. The wine is from their own vineyards and was absolutely beautiful. The decor is traditional and delightful. .Dear Michele,Thank you very much for your appreciation for our restaurant.Yours faithfully

I'll be honest, this isn't my first review of La Postal, nor is it my first visit. Actually, I think this may now be my fourth or fifth visit. I've mentioned before that I have a friend with an apartment, just off Plaza Major, in Segovia and I've persuaded him to take me back here. This time there was something new. The railway carriage. It's a relatively recent addition, but we'd never been able to book a table, such is the reputation for great food and great views, however this time we were lucky. We went with a friend from England and another friend who lives in Madrid. To state the obvious, the views of Segovia are absolutely stunning; better than those from the Paradore because here you look across fields. I could sit for hours watching the light change across the city.If that's not enough, the food is amazing too. I often go for the suckling pig, which is great, but this time I went for suckling lamb. I wasn't disappointed - actually I was slightly, but that's only because I couldn't eat all of it, as there was almost enough for two. On the plus side, I managed to save space for dessert (it's a 'different' stomach of course). Needless to say that our starts had also been delicious and the recommended wine was a perfect match for everything. We finished as four guys, slouching back into our chairs, with happy smiles. Lovely. After my meal I decided to walk back into Segovia. It's a lovely amble after a fantastic lunch, especially as it only takes about 30 minutes. I needed the walk, but while I had the chance, I would sneak a glance backwards and wonder when I'll be back next. 2017 perhaps? Who knows?

In a street full of restaurants and bars (Infanta Isabel) this is one you should visit for tapas at least. Can't comnent on restaurant but in the evening there was great atmosphere and good value, we stopped in for a couple of glasses of wine and were offered a choice of tapas, all of which looked great.

After a long day in Segovia, we looked at a few restaurants on trip advisor and in the streets and settled for El Redebal. With 4 adults and 5 children, they were able to accommodate easily, even allowing us to change seats from the terrace to inside when the temperature dropped. The service was impeccable from the waiters to the owner who came frequently to comment on the dishes, offering advices. The food was very good, with a near perfect cochonillo. Very reasonable prices and great service.

Called in here for lunch on a recent trip to Segovia having seen the favourable reviews on Tripadvisor. Glad we did, it was excellent. We were also very lucky to get in as if we had arrived about 10 minutes later we would have had no chance. They must have turned away as many people as were in the restaurant whilst we were there. We had come for the suckling pig and we weren't disappointed. It was on the 28E menu. There was an 11E menu as well that most people seemed to be having. The place was rammed and had that lovely buzz that you get in restaurants sometimes. This felt like a real community hub. Our starters were peppers stuffed with bacalao and a lovely bean stew, the very large beans being something specific to the area. Then the main event, the suckling pig, which was put on a separate table in its cooking dish next to ours and cut up into segments before being put on our plates. It also came with a basic salad. Get stuck in! Delicious. I especially liked nibbling on the crispy snout! I know, sounds horrid, but I was immediately transported back to the flavour of pork scratchings in pubs in England years ago. Desserts were a ponche Segovia (creamy, custard tart) and a lemon mousse (often found on menus on this holiday) that needed more of a lemon flavour (like most lemon mousses on this holiday). I like lemon. The meal also came with wine, bread and water. Service was terrific. Faultless. Polite, informed, efficient, caring. Highly recommended.

We had the menu del dia at lunchtime on a Thursday. There is no choice; the day of the week determines what you get. Thursday is paella (which was really good) followed by huevos con potatas (which was really, really bad). Two fried eggs, one of which was barely warm and the other absolutely stone cold with a dozen or so chips (of the frozen variety, I suspect). The waiter did offer to heat up the cold egg! Dessert was creme caramel. Bread and water (only still) or wine were included. The place was packed with locals so it must be popular with them but it is one of the worst menu del dias I have had, apart from the paella.Dear Sirs,Thanks for your assessment we appreciate it very much. It makes us get our service better.See you soon.Department Public Relations.
