La Grotta is the nearest restaurant and pizzeria to our holiday home near Roccalbegna, so we do visit it often. We went three times this trip in both May and June. We always have a pizza and they are always great. When we first started going, ten years ago, it was never busy, now it is wise to book. This is, for us, a good sign, as it means the Roccalbegna area is thriving now with both locals visiting and tourists. La Grotta is not just a pizzeria but a trattoria too and Lucia is a fine chef and has transformed the place. If you go please leave room for her wonderful desserts too. See you again soon Lucia e grazie mille. Denzil grazieeee!!! Sei sempre molto carino e gentile, come tua moglie,mi fa piacere che apprezziate il nostro locale e la nostra cucina,ti ringrazio per le gentili parole e ti saluto con simpatia e a presto spero!! ;O)

What can I say, where can I start? That is what I've said every visit when the fabulous meals have had the table groaning under their weight.Bring an appetite: servings are indeed generous - an understatement - and a beautiful expression of the food typical to the Amiata region. The produce is fresh, local where possible and makes the most of what the season has to offer (porcini mushrooms and chestnuts in October, local prosciutto and cheeses). There is also a great local wine selection (how could there not be in Southern Tuscany?) and the staff have sound knowledge in the wines themselves. The service itself is perfect; the staff are professional, friendly and warm.I've dined in the restaurant twice, both in autumn and winter, and ambience of the dining room, while spacious and light, is also cosy and I didn't feel like I had to whisper. In winter this would be the perfect place to relax for lunch after a morning of skiing (and working up an appetite to tackle those grand portions!). There is a great view of the ski run, the forest and the summit of Monte Amiata. In summer, this view is just spectacular. Such an unspoilt place! It goes without saying that I will be back.

Sono stato invitato per un pranzo di pesce al Caminetto. Lâidea di andare a mangiare il pesce al caminetto (quasi 690m slm, unâora e mezzo di macchina dal mare) mi solleticava poco: quindi, comâè andata?Eravamo in quattro. Tutti molto soddisfatti. I miei pici erano veramente ottimi. Gamberoni enormi e burrosi.

In medieval Arcidosso. A few hundred meters from parking. Inside or outside dining for lunch or dinner. The food is regional and worth a good walk. Definitely call ahead for dinner. Sometimes you can walk in but don't be disappointed. Nice slideshow of Monte Amiata and the Val D'Orcia runs as a background. The photos were taken by the proprietor. The restaurant is family operated and relies on locally produced meats and vegetables.

This is it, amazing simple dishes with fresh local produce made with real care. Someone recommended this restaurant to us and we were not disappointed to the point of coming back two days later. The food was generously served and tasted amazing. In between the 3 of us we must have tried most of the fresh pastas. Tagliatelle with wild boar ragu, pici with mushroom and sausage, gnocchi with gorgonzola... all tasted really good but the gold medal were the tagliolini with fresh truffles...a delight! The meat was also really tasty, perfectly cooked and of very high quality. The house wine might be a tad more expensive than other places but it is an organic wine that unlike most places tasted good. You can tell the owner Carlo is a really passionate cook and a real character. The settings is also very nice and the relaxed attitude of the waiters made us feel at home. I highly recommend this restaurant. 5 stars.

I enjoy eating at La Tagliola because the large fireplace is so nice, especially after a motorbike ride in the crisp, cold weather of Mount Amiata in early February! The owners are very nice and advice on the daily specialities. With a fellow motorbike rider, we enjoyed the antipasto with ham, bruschetta, crostini and mouthwatering sweet onions. Then we got presented with two small servings of soups, one with mushrooms and the other the traditional ribollita. We also tasted the local ravioli and tagliatelle pastas followed by a small sausage and steak barbecued. The price was very reasonable, just to add to the appeal of this little gem. Make sure you donât miss it!

A must go. A MUST!!!!! the food is just superb - all along the years - the pastas are delicate and light (all home made) the antipasti, crisp and fresh. The main courses (meats) are exquisite and different from the usual Tuscan dishes. the deserts are....wow1. Very good house wine and extended Tuscan wine selection. The service is fast and the owner will personally describe the menu to you. If you want to eat more than one meals, Aiuole has rooms....

A dip in Tuscan cuisine, the real one, made of strong flavors. A lunch totally based on porcini mushrooms. Pici with porcini mushrooms, fillet of chianina beef with porcini mushrooms caps and fried porcini mushrooms. Fresh and high quality ingredients. The fillet with porcini caps is amazing, the beef is divine, porcini mashrooms are excellent. Each dish is prepared with care. Nice ambience of rustic style, good service. Highly recommended.

Little Tuscan tavern located in the heart of Monte Amiata, in the Southern Tuscany. The menu is strictly bounded to the Tuscan cooking and all dishes are prepared by following traditional recipes. The ingredients are selected with great passion, searching
Great restaurant set in a quaint village we came across on the way back to pienza from saturnia. The manager and chef were very friendly, good honest people, the house wine was delicious, the tiramisu and pannacotta to die for and just 3 euros! The mushroom and ham pizza was so good we had to order another one! Definitely no tourist trap!Thank you so much for your review. We chose for our costumers a short menu in order to provide an high food's quality.
