Received this restaurant contact as recommendation from the hotel reception and eventually was disappointed and surely never come back. If you imagine that Italian restaurant could cook unpalatable, unappetizing and tasteless food - this is the case. Meat, risotto - unacceptable, desert was more or less all right. Service is strange, they position themselves like three Michelin star owners though they aren't. Dark and strange shabby interior. Was a wrong choice, try to avoid this osteria.

Great local food made into delicious regional dishes. Service was really excellent, coping with our inadequate Italian and explaining every dish Restaurant was beautiful. Recommendations for wine spot on: a pinot grigio rather than local Grecchetto grape. We had a great evening. Strongly recommend the pork with truffles - so moist and gently flavoured.

The project of this trattoria was born with the intent to showcase the beautiful and the good of Umbria valorizing the territory in its complexity: with the support of the Municipality of Perugia, of the Academy of Fine Arts âPietro Vannucciâ, of the Univ
We were able to eat here for Christmas lunch for which they had a fixed menu. We received plate upon plate of delicious food, from an appetizer of organic meats to a artichoke lasagna to roast lamb and potatoes to tiramisu and panna cotta with home made caramel sauce. Wow! The place is a little out of the way but well worth the effort. We will return to sit in their outside garden in the Spring.

Once you step in, you realize that this is a friendly establishment, one in which you start talking to the person you did not know before sitting at the next table. They have nice salumi, wonderful cheese selection and good wine. They are young and willing to build a name and you should go and visit them. They claim that they do not have a restaurant license and you need to step to the counter and take the order, clean the table after you are done or before in case the others did not do it for you. Also you have plastic forks and glasses. It did not bother me, it actually brings a taste of coziness to the place and makes it informal. The few points that makes me give them 3 out of 5.- The cheese selection was good. But most of the cheese seemed to be the same cheese with different fillings (peperoncino, truffle, nuts). At one point it becomes boring to taste the same cheese. Also, there were some other more interesting formaggi in the fridge but we did not get them... not sure of how they make their tagleri.- I can understand that it is not a restaurant, but if the table is dirty there should be no law restraining you from cleaning it before the new patrons arrive. Place was not crowded.- Place closes at 11PM. The guy at the bar started to seal the salumis at 10:20. Probably he would have unsealed it had we wished to order some meat. But I still think that the host needs to clean up after the guests leave. Debate-able, I know. I may be emphasizing this for the wrong reasons.- I found pieces of plastic in my mouth from the confiture. I kept thinking that they could have come from the broken plastic forks of previous clients and that ruined my night. Again, maybe I am over-reacting and this was in the confiture from the beginning, but still it does not help the review.

It was our first meal on our first day in Perugia and we were not disappointed. I have not had much truffle but the education the waiter gave us and what type goes with which dish was superb. My steak was very good. I think they should insist on having a veg side ad itâs heavy food. Only 4 * due to it being quite expensive. We will go back on next visitThank you so much!we hope to see you again, best regardsAL TARTUFO

A recommendation from an Italian friend. A great little find. Very good pizza just off the main square in Perugia. Not the most sophisticated of surroundings, but the food and the price make up for that. We were a group of 9, and luckily got a table. 5 minutes later there were queues on a Wednesday lunchtime.

We came into town on the Mini Metro... check that out.The restaurant is downstairs and feels like a private and elegant wine cellar. The staff is friendly but with a Perugian reserve in manner. The food is really good.Try the Contorni of beans which is like a rich sustaining soup.

At Osteria Mangiafuoco we serve typical Umbrian dishes, with high quality local ingredients, selected with care and deep respect for the territory. We have a fabulous menu for all tastes and an extensive wine list for all the gorges. This is a real Land o
My girlfriend and I went here for dinner during our holiday in Umbria after reading recommendations on tripadvisor and went back to our hotel very satisfied. The pasta was really good, and considering the prices, the quality really exceeded expectations. Our host was dressed up as the Pinocchio character from whom the restaurant is named and was thoroughly entertaining throughout our dinner. It is a little bit away from the center of town, but it is worth driving or walking after. A great meal which won't knock the bottom out of your wallet, and excellent service.

Really nice place, a kind of a strange (not perfect) mix between of shabby and modern, minimal, overall ok!Good service in term of being polite and knowing what they are serving, they pay a lot of attention to customers and there is always someone ready to help you.Food is good, a mix of traditional and fusion, good ingredients that come directly from nearby farmhouses, with a lot of attention for small production and original but healthy ingredients. My experience was ruin by the waiting, for 3 courses we stay more than 2h (that is fine if you decide to stay there chatting and having fun, but is not ok if you have to wait for almost 1h between the different plates). they work mainly on reservation so they know in advance more or less how many people they will serve. This is usually a good strategy to organize kitchen work and be sure that customers will be followed and served with the right attention and timing. On this occasion was a failure, complete, mainly because the kitchen was extremely slow, probably not enough personal was working there. That's a shame because the place is really nice, the food is good and it definitely worth a visit.
