I am writing this review to follow on from Simon Browns review as I was sitting at this table. The restaurant came back to that review with a rude and completely untrue set of statements. When we received our meal my motherâs was lukewarm so when a waiter came pass She asked for it to be sent back. At the time we had ordered some salad so she put it on her plate to eat with her meal. After almost 15 minutes her meal finally came back. It had clearly just been microwaved, but they couldnât even be bothered to take off the small bit of salad of bread off the plate so that was also hot. After complaining about the cold food we were told that it was our mothers fault as she had been feeding her children, but I think her 14 and12 year old sons were able to feed themselves just fine. For not a great meal we found it was really overpriced. I needed to write this review as Simons review had been twisted to make the restaurant look like the victim of this bad meal. Be weary that some of the responses are probably a load of lies as the response to Simons review was disgustingly untrue. The fruit never falls far from the plant, such a father as a son. I have already responded to your previous review and have no time to waste with a kid. I have to work here ...

Our restaurant overlooks Lake Como and has stunning views of the surrounding mountains whilst providing a lovely atmosphere in which to relax and dine. Apart from our extensive menu offering the best of local cuisine, there is a wide choice of pizzas cook
Three couples were staying at the Hotel for two nights so it made sense for us to eat here too and this we did on the Saturday and Sunday evenings. We had a table overlooking the lake which was great and lovely see all the lights come on across the water. We had great service and food on the Saturday evening and we cannot complain about any of it as everything was delicious. On Sunday evening however we were waited on by Georgia who told us that she was the granddaughter of the owner. Should this make a difference? Our order was taken and all dishes came out at the same time - starter and main courses except mine. I had the soup to start and then I had a a very long wait for my lemon chicken. So long that I think I had been overlooked. Anyway out came this plate of chicken fillets covered in a sauce and when I tasted it it was vile. It tasted so acidic and bitter that I had to call the wait staff over and complain. I was offered something else but by this time the restaurant was empty and our friends had finished. I said that I did not wish to pay for my main course and it was deducted from the bill. Georgia was very rude to me and spoke to me as if it was my fault that my dinner had not been cooked â and after all we did offer to prepare you something elseâ as if this made it right. Not happy at all. Giorgia, you let your Grandad down. Dear JandR1971,We are very sorry to read this review and we just can't understand how an adult could express such a bad judgment about a person with whom she spoke no more than 5 minutes.Don't worry about what we think of Giorgia, we are all proud of her (especially her grandfather), she is a student, she works and she is a wakeboarding champion, Everything you wrote certainly does not change our opinion. Anyway .... we reply to you just to clarify some points ..... because I was there at the desk and you wrote things that arenât true.1 Did the chicken escalops have to much lemon? True ... we tried them as soon as you complained and they werenât cooked right. sometimes it happens.2 I asked Giorgia to come to the table to apologize and tell you that we would do it again without problems ( or if you wanted another dish instead) and she did. She didnât come to the table acting like she was the daughter of the boss (like you wanted to show in your review), she was asked why her english was good, and what she was doing here. And she just replied that it was her family business, which is true. 3 At the time of the first complain your friends hadn't finished eating and the restaurant wasn't empty there was plenty of time to redo the dish. You simply didn't want to, you decided to ruin your evening for this mistake. Because everything could have been solved easily, and you could have had a great night like the day before. You did the whims like the kids do and then you vented your frustration on Giorgia. Plus, there was no need to tell us to take the chicken off the bill because we would have done it regardless.Of course if we didnât make this "mistake" your dinner would have been better but we all make mistakes. Hopefully youâre lucky enogh to never make a mistake. But, remember, in case it happens to you to do something wrong i hope you donât find someone like you in front of you. Best regards, Gregorioâs family ( grandfather included)

On our first night in the town of Lezzeno on Lake Como, tired from a full day of exploring in Varenna, we elected to stay close to our rented apartment for dinner. The Trip Advisor reviews concerning Crotto del Misto combined with the recommendation we received from the manager of our rental apartment made Crotto del Misto a good candidate for our evening repast. The entrance to the restaurant is down a lengthy driveway below street level. On this trip to Italy, we were accompanied by my 93 year old mother-in-law. To say the least, the walk down the steep driveway presented a bit of a challenge. We entered and were pleasantly greeted and escorted to a table flanked by a wall of windows looking out over Lake Como. It was just before sunset and as the sun went down the view got increasingly dreamy with the lights of the towns across the lake sparkling in the night and reflecting off the water. Ambiance "A+".We were served by two extremely friendly and efficient individuals who attended to our every request. Between the four members of our group, I believe we sampled appetizers, the local fish, pasta and meat dishes. The house wine was excellent. At the end of our meal I enjoyed a tasty espresso and we were all treated to complimentary Limoncello after dinner drinks - superb!Food and Drink "A"After enjoying this beautiful venue and such excellent food and drink, we didn't think the night could get any better. That was until our waiter went above and beyond his duties by offering to bring his small SUV down the narrow and precipitous ramp to give my 93 year old mother-in-law a ride back up top to where our vehicle was parked. It is this very type of consideration, kindness and basic chivalry that makes me so very proud of my Italian heritage. Kindness and Courtesy "A++"I can guarantee any reader of this review that my next visit to northern Lake Como will undoubtedly include a visit to Crotto del Misto. They have earned both my loyalty and my respect.

Having heard of this expensive restaurant frequented by the rich and famous we expected a fine dining experience. Wrong! The food is basic, simple, and would cost you around â¬10 a head at home and could be even cooked by me, and my wife says I cannot cook! Certainly no need for a chef. Starter: a tomato uncooked with a slice of lemon on top sprinkled with some dried herbs, wowser! There is an antipasto of sorts, comes in a variety of bowls, basically uncooked veg, no effort from the kitchen there. Accompanied by leg ham & cooked meats. On the table is a bottle of cheap white wine, no choice, to be drunk from tumblers ( the type you have in your bathroom), traditional apparently! A large bread roll arrives at the table, plonk! Itâs friendly apparently, whatever that means?Next sea salmon, served with flair, then covered in olive oil and salt at the table without being asked. This is followed by two pieces of chicken fresh from KFC, only ours was dry. This is accompanied by a plate of lettuce leaves, covered in olive oil. Then desert: ice cream covered in a sweet sauce. Nothing particularly wrong with the food, except the chicken, but this is âbasicâ at its most basic and at a huge price?I should have know better when the write up of the chef said he spent four years at Londonâs Penthouse Club. I do not know of anyone who went there for the food! There is also some school boy fun with fire and a creepy story, which results in a weak coffee... magic! To continue the school boy theme, you do not get the bill until the theatrics are over, then you are free to make a hasty retreat. The setting is beautiful. I can only think all the celebs who go there do so to see how those not able to fine dine like themselves are ripped off as tourists. My advice is to avoid the restaurant, but enjoy the island during the day. Go for a coffee and snack and soak up the scenery after a walk around the Island.

The breakfast here is average at 3.5 stars, but the dinner options are great and reasonable given the quality. The staff are nice and helpful and the outdoor dining area is lovely. I really loved the remote control lights.

Had a great meal at the restaurant, a lot of choice containing the local fish. Limited other options.

Lovely little restaurant in old building. Have the Trout entree it was sensational. As was the apple tart. The risotto was not so exciting. A friendly authentic restaurant when you want to get away from the crazy crowds and tourist energy. Not easy to find but worth it.

The restaurant is by the lake, with a beautiful view and ambiance. The menu is not large but has good options of seafood and pasta. Big wine list. The cover charge is 3 Euros and main course go from 15 to 30 Euros.
