Good cuisine here, traditional with some concessions to modernity.Pasta rolls with beetroot and local ricotta were nice to look at and to eat, the ricotta not too intense but the whole ensemble working well in terms of flavours. Tortelli with aubergine Parmigiana and burrata and tomato juice were very balanced, well made and well cooked, the tomato juice surprisingly the dominant item for it freshness and sheer goodness). The only problem was that whatever the chef was trying to do with the aubergine skins (maybe make them crisp?), the resulting object was just not chewable...The star of the evening was a tasting dish of local (Alpago) lamb. The dish may look plain (no jus or decorations), but the cooking technique behind it is in fact very good - the meat melted in the mouth. There was (I assume) long cooked shoulder, there was belly, there was heart (absolutely lovely), there was liver, there was a breaded and fried chop, there was a raw slice with some frisee salad, and other stuff I probably forget...in sum, a lamb feast, a large dish, excellent produce cooked with skill. The restaurant is on a road, the building looks a little drab, the room is not particularly nice, and, especially, it had been a very hot day (34 Celsius) and there was no air conditioning inside. Their attempt at creating some air current by opening the windows were ineffectual. So the setting was more uncomfortable than it normally is for a restaurant with these prices. So, not recommended on hot days.Prices themselves are however, very fair for the quality and even quantity of the food. Same for wines (we had a Ca Del Bosco 2000 Dosage Zero - an Italian 'champagne'- for a very, very reasonable mark up). Service was kind, even if being one of only few tables inside, and with a full house outside, there were, let's say, some moments of neglect.

We came here every night during our short stay in Belluno. It's best to call and reserve beforehand as can get quite busy. House wine was very good. The best dish in our opinion was the pork which was cooked for a long time until tender and then pan fried so that the outside is crispy and inside is very tender. This was served with roast/?fried potatoes. It was recommended by the friendly waitress. Unfortunately we can't remember the name of the dish. We think this might have been the best dish we had during our stay in Italy. The seafood ravioli served with large jumbo prawns was also very good. Dessert wasn't so good. We tried a very hard biscuit, on top of which sat some custard/yellow cream and various types of berries. The Italians seem to like really hard biscuits!! In our opinion if this was improved on then this restaurant would be absolutely amazing.

We recently enjoyed a Sunday lunch at La Cascina, which we stumbled upon by following signs leading from a main road. Pay close attention to these signs as La Cascina in not easy to find. The restaurant is very spacious and it is most suited for receptions and large groups of people and celebrations. We entered through the bar a got unusual looks from some of the locals enjoying a glass or two of wine. We walked through to the back where we found the large dining room where one half was occupied by group celebrating some special event. We were warmly welcomed and shown to our table by a friendly and efficient waitress. Tables were draped with tablecloths and set with everyday service ware (utensils, dishes and glassware). A breadbasket contained bread sticks, crackers and rolls was also on the table. The daily menu listed several enticing pasta courses and entrees. The owner later told us that during the week, La Cascina features a simple lunch menu for the work force. On weekends, more elaborate dishes are featured; most of which were homemade.I started with Ravioli filled with cheese and tossed with guanciale (pig jowl) and radicchio. The portion was generous and the flavors delicious. My wife enjoyed homemade tagliatelle with a venison sauce. For an entree, I enjoyed venison served with grilled polenta and a mixed salad. The meat was tender and tasty. My wife enjoyed rolled chicken fillets, stuffed with radicchio and topped with a nice gravy. I had a homemade Tiramisu that was exceptional and my wife liked the radicchio cake.Prices were very reasonable with our above meal, plus a half liter of house wine and a bottle of water totaling 59 euro. La Cascina also has a large tented outdoor patio for warm weather days. La Cascina is closed for lunch on Wednesdays. We were very pleased a recommend this restaurant to the TripAdvisor community.

WE had a very nice meal here. It was pricey but I think competitive for the quality of the food. Service was a little slow. They brought some delicious cookies at the end of our meal. Also they were flexible in dividing the check among a fairly large group.

The restaurant is located in a sort of a highway (not very traveled, during lunch hours) that leads to the mountains, but it is an excellent spot where to stop and eat. It is small, but very well-finished. The service is great, although it might take longer than usual. The staff is welcoming and neat. Great food. We ate here twice and both times had the daily suggestions - couldn't have been happier. They change the menu regularly, because they use seasonal food, so I would recommend to ask them what their suggestions are. With hot weather, they open the terrace - amazing view of the mountains and lovely fresh air to dine with.
