We stopped in Peniscola on a group tour with our High School band, orchestra and choir. Eight of us adults on the tour slipped away to El Penon, which had great ratings. As it turns out, the restaurant went beyond our expectations. The wait staff were very attentive and helpful. 6 of us decided to go in on seafood Paella, which was really great (see picture). Another two had grilled fish with vegetables, also excellent. What really put El Penon over the top for us was their help when a couple of our students had an incident and needed a bit of care which involved several of us chaperones going over to help a few streets over. The wait staff of El Penon were extremely helpful and provided ice, towels, and even cups of chamomile tea to ease the nerves (of the students), and a wonderful liqueur of rice and milk (for the grownups). We will remember this restaurant forever and I look forward to returning some day!

Myself and two friends visited this restaurant twice during our stay and the food we had was delicious. First visit was for Tapas. Service was efficient and friendly staff which is always nice especially as we donât speak much Spanish! Tapas was all amazing! Second visit we opted for paella and it was amazing . Lots of passers by also seemed to be admiring it. We will defiantly be back for more.

Made the mistake of coming here for the last meal in PeñÃscola. The flavors are outstanding. They have a tasty pizza with super fresh buffalo mozzarella, local PeñÃscola tomatoes and a tender blistered crust. Finishes off with an outstanding lemoncello on the house (kids get a kiddie drink on the house as well). I will have to return to PeñÃscola just to eat here again. Did I mention the prices were ridiculously low?

This place is making a serious effort and differentiates itself from other local restaurants by focusing on the finest, simple ingredients, cooked perfectly and presented beautifully. The enthusiasm and pride in their restaurant is palpable from the superb staff ( and the owner is the double of Alex James out of Blur).Menu del dia is superb value and focuses on perfect, simple seafood, clever vegetarian dishes and superb mountain cooking. Highlights for us were a aubergine parmigiana and pig cheek in almond sauce. The latter dish was the best thing I ate in Spain over 3 weeks- slow cooked, fat melting, all it needed was the copious bread supplied to wipe the plate with! Finally, the staff were great with our two young boys, allowing our 9 year old to change his choice to a bresaola, nut and honey platter after he'd spotted it elsewhere in the restaurant. Really superb lunch to celebrate my wife's birthday. Only regret is that we visited on our last day in Peniscola rather than our first.

Argenta was near by to our hotel and had received good reviews for their paella. There were only 2 other groups dining. The owner Tonio seated us and brought us two toasties topped with sardine and roasted pepper. The menu is all in Spanish but thanks to google translate we were able to navigate. Tonio was gracious and his restaurant reflects his pride of ownership. We started with a salad with mixed greens, smoked tuna, ham, anchovies, tomatoes. With Tonios help we shared the seafood paella in broth. It was perfect for 2 - prawns, crab, calamari rice all with bread to sop up the broth. We ended with the creme brûlée type dessert Crema Catalana!

Very lovely food with a good choice of crepes. Service was good, if a little slow, but they were very busy. I will definitely be coming back to eat as it was delicious & they were very friendly :-)

Fixed price menu available in the evening, not that common. Some different choices for both courses. Friendly efficient service. Full bottle of wine included between two, I think (have to admit we were so surprised by the final bill, we didn't check the details! Very generous complementary drinks to follow. Would recommend without reservation.

We were in Peniscola for 4 nights, ate here 3 evenings- and we rarely ever do that!Great location, nice outside eating area with partial sea views. The restaurant specialises in Iberian ham (but there are plenty of other dishes - don't worry). Their platters are amazing, 4 or 5 different ones, point to note if you are having a couple of tapas dishes then a half platter is enough for two people. The food is fresh, beautifully presented, very fairly priced, the service is friendly attentive and adds to the wonderful atmosphere this restaurant has. Its TripAdvisor position is totally warranted. The wine list is very good, the house Rioja was very nice, good if you just want a glass.Do yourself a favour when in Peniscola and visit Tasca La bellota, you will not be disappointed.
