Anticogallo is a Piedmont restaurant situated in the center of Arona, a few steps from Corso Cavour and Major Lake. The menu varies with the season and the recipes are traditional. The pasta is homemade and in winter you can find the traditional polenta t
I am literally blown away by this restaurant. Literally everything we tried was superb.. we had the fiori di zucca fritters and horse meat tartare as starters, came pretty fast. Then we tried the casarecci with pesto sauce and calamari and some meat, can't recall what's called but wow, it was mouth watering.. even the deserts were delicious. This place is a MUST during your trip in Arona.

Walking and came across this place by chance. Busy, so generally a good sign. They did have a set lunch menu which looked like value for money but we ordered off the menu. I had the stuff squid which was really small and hadn't been cleaned properly. The accompanying vegetables though were exquisite. My sons cotoletta, whilst large wasn't really seasoned. Prices on the higher end. Service to start with was really slow and neglectful. The decor inside was quite charming. Unfortunately I'll put it down to a bad day. Would give it another go in the hope it would live up to its expectations.

Taking a short walk from our hotel we stumbled on this local gem, we had borrowed an umbrella from the hotel and there were a number of similar items installed in the stand at the entrance, so we decided that we had made a good choice. The welcome was warm and genuine and set the standard for the whole experience, the ambience is very relaxed and the service attnetive but non intrusive. The food is quite simply excellent, the best ingredients very well cooked and presented completely in keeping with the ambient charm. The mixed seafood grill, Tuna steak in poppy seeds were the choice. The second evening we opted for some changes - a starter of warm seafood salad and potatoes, followed by a main of sea bass filet in a curry sauce accompanied by "Black Venus" which was stunning - a wild rice risotto that was the best I have ever tasted. Dessert was equally good. The clients were a mix of visitors, and local patrons as evidenced by the manner of the welcome from the hosts and their familiarity with all the staff. This is a family business serving typical cuisine for the region at a very high standard. We are here for another three nights so will definitely be making another visit to try something new......

The Le Fief restaurant is composed of a series of sumptuous rooms located in the Palazzo. Under the aegis of our Executive Chef, the dishes have been carefully studied to include local specialities as well as traditional dishes once served to the family.
This is a very classy and high end restaurant which we treated ourselves to on our first night staying at the hotel. We dined on their terrace by a lovely cascade. The staff were discreet and very professional. The menu was extensive and had various options including a number of tasting menus which were also matched with wine. We had Dear DerbyshireJames, thank you for having taken the time to share your experience at Le Fief Restaurant. Castagneto Restaurant was founded in 1969 in the green hills of Montrigiasco, a small village 7 km from Arona, by Lake Maggiore. It is run by siblings Antonella and Franco Spinella, fourth generation of restaurant keepers, with the help of their mother Fr
We ate hear on a friend's recommendation. About an hour from Milan Malpensa airport. The service was fantastic in this very friendly run family restaurant. Their wine list and knowledge of wine is excellent. Even though we could not speak any Italian, the waitress translated the whole menu into English for us. Very highly recommended :)Grazie mille !!

Had a dinner with fish (zander) and ratatouille and desserts - tiramisu and crema catalana. The fish was ok, not fabulous, but ok. When the desserts arrived,we both wondered if they were taken from the freezer and served. At least, they did not taste as fresh. Service good, attentive waiters.grazie, bacchetta renato

Just off the main street of Arona, lies this cosy and delicious Enoteca. The food is superb, delicious and served quickly by amazing stuff that own the place. We had an appetiser of bresaola and ricotta cheese and zucchini mousse which was very good and then we ate meat - pork and beef and it was amazing. The food combinations are fantastic and they have on offer all the best Belgium beers. The interior of the Enoteca is very nice decorated with vines and wine bottles, a really nice decoration.

The restaurant is located in the town centre, directly on the lake promenade.
After visiting lots of restaurants at Lago Maggiore we found this restaurant which is not (!) offering Pizza.Instead of this you can get a lot of fresh fish and other fine meals. You can sit outside or inside in a warm modern atmosphere.Fast we recieved the menu and wine list.We ordered a mixed seafood starter with raw fish filets, prawns and oyster offered at a price of 20,00 â¬.The quality and preparation was perfect.Of course we received a basket with different sorts of high class bread and an amuse gueule from the kitchen. For main we ordered fresh fish (catch of the day) with some potatoes charged with 18,00 ⬠per person. The bottle of white wine, Tartufo, 20,00 â¬, was fine.In general the service is fast and friendly. What could be done better? The choice of fine Italian wines could be more extensive. But you will find enough good wines in this restaurant which is located next to the lake.I can highly recomnend this restaurant. My subjective personal rating: Service: 4 pointsPreparation and quality of meals: 5 pointsLocation: 4 pointsPrice and value for money: 4 pointsThank you very much!We hope to see you again on your next visit on Lake Maggiore! With our best regards,Sabrina & Gabriele

The pizza restaurant Via Veneto, near Lake Maggiore, is the ideal place to enjoy Italian dishes and pizzas. A friendly and cheerful, family-friendly, many companies but also to couples for a romantic dinner. Here you can enjoy delicious pasta dishes (past
One should not assume from the "pizzeria" in the restaurant name that this is just that. You will find a highly unusual set of choices of the type of flour that dough is made with and you will be surprised at how incredibly long they let their doughs rest and proof. And then comes the choice of toppings, all of which are in selected quality of ingredients.Recommended beer list as well.Yes, it is a restaurant with usual dishes as well, but do go there for the gourmet pizzas.

Vegan restaurant. Organic dishes and homemade vegan pastry.
We found this wonderful restaurant when doing some research before travelling to Lake Maggiore as we are vegan (and I have a whole host of food intolerances) and so it can be next to impossible to eat out in Italy, for us! However there is vegan and then there is VEGAN, in other words the standard of food can be very variable and often quite poor when you opt to go plant-based (and we have encountered the full range on our travels!) so we weren't very sure what to expect. Many vegan restaurants give a bad name to this kind of eating, which is so frustrating when you enjoy creative and healthy cooking yourself...and it is often preferable, if hard work, to self-cater when travelling. We were so pleasantly surprised by the creative and diverse food on offer here (and not at all reliant on meat-sustitutes - we encountered tempeh and buy no soy and the rest was truely plant based) that we ended up going to this resturant three times in under a week, twice for dinner and once for buffet lunch. All three meals were varied and so enjoyable. On each occassion, they took careful note of my gluten free status (advised in advance) and carefully explained my options in excellent English. On the sunday, which is buffet night, they had kindly prepared a gluten free buffet in a seperate place to the rest of the food so there was no mistaking what I could eat...and there was plenty for me as most of the dishes were gluten free. Our final lunch, just before we set off to the airport, was a substantial and delicious way to end our trip before travelling back to England and the cheerful and relaxed vibe in this special venue helped to make our holiday into something truly memorable. Would love to see eateries like this spring up all around Europe as it would make our travels so much easier and more pleasant. By the way, the clientele was made up entirely of Italian "locals" (that we saw) and this restaurant was consistently popular, with diners seated inside and out in their little garden; usually a good sign that it is a true winner attracting repeat business and not a gimmicky tourist venue.
