Two weeks ago I visted Ristorante Forassiepi together with a family member. I did write a review, but based on communication with the upset chef I deleted it and will by this rewrite my comments on the visit.I have lived more than 60 years by the Noth Sea, so fish and other âseafoodâ are well known. Due to different reasons I have cooked in the kitchen for more than 50 years but I do not call myself a chef, yet. The last 6 weeks, and two more to come, I have enjoyed learning more about the Italian kitchen so I am better prepared to invite neighbours, friend, family or other visitors that would like to dine with us in Montecarlo.I am also pleased to see I have catched up with 100.000 readers on my reviews on Tripadviser that I hope read my reviews as I read others. To find good or challenges with restaurants I like to vist when I am in a particular area.So back to Ristorante Forassiepi. Over the 17 years visiting Lucca and the area this was my third visit the Ristorante Forassiepi. Previous I have been reasonable pleased even it is 5 years since last time.I was very pleased, even we were prepared to come back. The person who took my reservation noted wrong day. Just the way I want it. See a table empty for 3 hours instead of have other people dine in between is waste. We wanted to check out their menu and taste the food. So two hours for us should be more than enough, normally. I poped into the chef just briefly before we were seated. The restaurant is obvius a place for fine dining. The clients this evening also indicated this. The menu is interesting and we appreciated the introduction soup, nice presentation and very good tast. For starter I had choose Octopus. I very often do that when I see it because I just love it. And this was prefect cooked, just delicious. Primi was our first disappointment. Both of us had risotto and it was not cooked enough. The plating was not as you expect a first class restaurant and the tast from what should be a marinated salmon disappear. I had picked Scampi (Nephrops norvegicus). Taste ok, noted is that you can choose from fruit or vegetables along with the scampi. I had fruit, so dolce along with my second and it lifted the dish completeness. However, again I was very disappointed with the presentation. I eat a lot with my eyes so I have different expectations depend on what kind of restaurants I visit.Second, disappointment of the day was when my family member ordered Lobster. As mentioned, lived by the sea expectation of a European Lobster when Lobster is put on the menu is there, so if any would like lobster at Ristorante Forassiepi, ask what kind of lobster are on the menu this day. Looking at their video on Facebook lobster is European Lobster present, but that was not what was given us. In general service is good. Based on the high priced menu it is easy to see they spend a part of that with having staff available, both in the kitchen and the front. Chef Antonio Pirozzi, has his 35 years pluss in business, but as years goes it is not as easy to watch all and keep a hand on everything. That we did not turn any dish back to the kitchen, sorry about that, just not something we do. I rather tell the story what kind of experience I have and leave it with that. This time was a âcosi..cosiâ experience, hope to visit again and that it will be better. White wine from Enzo Carmangiani was good and was a good match to our dishes.

La Nina is a truly memorable experience and one to be highly recommended for both tourists and locals alike. The restaurant itself is very impressive, the ambiance is very special and the service is impeccable. The menu has clearly been carefully thought through and everything I have tried was delicious and beautifully presented. Make sure you leave some room for dessert. If you are looking for amazing food in a special environment, this is the place.

Fattoria Il poggio agriturismo,ristorante
The location, the food and the service here are all good. But the experience is spoiled by busloads of tourists, noisy and boisterous. This is good for business of course but those of us wanting a quiet Tuscan meal will go elsewhere in Montecarlo.

As we live close to Pescia, we like to go in the evenings for a glass of Wine. The barkeeper is very competent and has always a good recommendation. There is a big selection of great wines of the world! We were impressed and looking at the bottles for a while. The owner is a very sympathic and competent young man who offers also the "aperitivo" in the evenings where you can choose from some regional products by having a nice glass of wine. The location is in centre Pescia, good place after a shopping day.. It offers a couple of tables outside and the atmosphere inside is warm and friendly. It was a pleasure meeting you and we are looking forward to see you next year!Baci di Zurigo, Gorana e Marco

It was out first time visiting Italy and the first time to actually try the famous Italian pizza. We went to this place as it was near our hotel. The vegetarian pizza were OK nothing spectacular. A decent place nothing good nothing bad. Good ambience and service.

This is a very cozy restaurant next to the famous gardens furnished with Tuscan taste. We were there for dinner and the service was amazing. We were seated at a table next to a window overlooking the garden. Food - we had the menu di degustazione mare - was above average and was to our taste. As we went there after Easter we had a quiet and joyful evening. Recommended!

From the moment we were welcomed in (at 9:30 p.m.) we felt right at home. Although the ambiance may be a little lacking, it fits perfectly with the home-style atmosphere. AND, while it may lack in linen cloths and napkins, the food and service makes up 10 times!Massimo and his staff made this our favorite restaurant in the region! I am a chef and this was the best lamb dish I have ever eaten...ANYWHERE! The mushroom ravioli, divine! The Panna Cotta...sublime! The food, service and wine were absolutely excellent! How I wish we could have eaten here every night. Thank you Guy Fieri and Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives. This recommendation was spot on! Grazie Massimo and familia! Ritornero!!!! I will return and send my friends!

We were hungry late at night, so we went to the village to find a pizza place. We walked in to Pizzeria Pucci and were greeted by a friendly waitress. She was very accommodating, ordering us a pizza and boxing it up. I was sorry we didn't bring the whole family down so we could eat in the restaurant. The décor was inciting and the people were so nice and welcoming. And we liked the pizza.

A 10 minute drive from pescia centre, Monte e Pescia is a sweet hilltop village with really nothing there but this restaurant and some incredible, far reaching views across Tuscany. It has a pool, and presumably some rooms. The restaurant is very local and little English is spoken, but they do have a menu in English and staff are jolly and helpful. We ordered the 'mythical florentine' menu, â¬35 pp (including wine) and everyone shares the meal, family style.First up was a selection of crostini with various toppings, the tomato bruschetta won the day, with lardo coming very close second in the opinions of my fellow diners.Next a pasta course of raviolis in a meat ragu, which was cooked perfectly and so delicious I could have eaten it twice. The main course was a gigantic rib eye, grilled rare and sliced for sharing with the tastiest, creamiest borlotti beans I've ever had. The steak was so perfectly seasoned and cooked so that the fat was soft enough to eat. The beans were good enough to have been a dish in their own right and we greedily scooped up every last one.Dessert was an apple and custard tart, not too sweet and just the right size after all we'd eaten up to then.Surprisingly (for a table of wine enthusiasts/snobs) we all enjoyed the house wine and many comments were made as to its ease of drinking. We finished off the evening with vin santo and biscotti, which wasn't on the florentine menu, but seemed like a good idea at the time. We were served healthy portions of vin santo and an entire dinner plate loaded with crunchy almond biscotti. The views are amazing, the atmosphere is lovely, relaxed and very local, and the service was excellent. If you're visiting Pescia and want to try an authentic Tuscan meal, this is the place to go.
