Reviews on Mediterranean food in Mechelen, Antwerp Province, Belgium. The picturesque town of Mechelen, a hidden Flemish gem, sits between Brussels and Antwerp. Students of the world-renowned Carillon bell-ringing school provide an atmospheric soundtrack for sipping coffee at a sidewalk café in one of the town's charming squares. Many pedestrian areas make this a delightful town to promenade about, admiring hundreds of listed buildings and monuments, many dating back to 16th century. Highlights include Gothic and Baroque churches and the famed St Rumbold's Tower.

We discovered this place on trip advisor and decided to verify the comments. It's a very sweet cosy resto, very good food, very tasty, if you want to go for the Maroccan experience. The tastes are diverse and surprising, something new! The tajines are to die for.Prices are economical, this is surely a place to go! Even the service was very friendly even so it was her 3th day, KUDOS. We surely go back

Unfortunately i chose this restaurant only for the last dinner! It is a great location woth such a warm atmosphere, weiters are friendly and smiling, dishes simply great to the eye and to the mouth. It is hard to call it italian restaurant: lucky it simply has some italian specialities but dressed in a unique way, not italian actually but better! Parking available, open air tables if good weather

Welcome to De Vleeshalle. This monumental space, which was once home to the old Mechelen meat market, is now a culinary hotspot in the heart of the city. Twelve stall holders and a pop-up food stall ply their daily trade. The taste makers create fresh dis
Has opened recently and we have been impressed after our first visit. The venue is a 19th century meat market (indoor) that has been refurbished. The food stalls offer various styles of food (from burgers to Vietnamese) of good quality. At the centre is a nice bar offering a great selection of drinks. Very relaxed atmosphere.

BAR & BISTRO From adventure in Basque country to a restaurant in Belgium, we serve world-food in pintxo portions. Curiosity is key to exploration in our bar & bistro! Our concept is inspired by Spanish food culture, but our chefs fuse foods from all aroun
Because this restaurant is closed in the early part of the week, I have not visited with business, despite 18 months in Mechelen; they could certainly make more business trade by opening on a Wednesday. The atmosphere is nice and service good. You order at the bar by looking at the dishes. Nice to take a number of tapas tastes - but the food itself is decent, but not spectacular. Many of the dishes are sauce based, so as soon as you have 2 or 3 on your plate, the sauces all run into one another and you get a merged taste, which cannot be what the chef intended.

Ate here tonight and had a wonderful simple but tasty meal. I had the rabbit and raisin tadjine which was incredibly tasty. The dish arrives piping hot and the foot steams and bubbles whilst you eat it. Great flavours, great atmosphere and great service. Would have given this place 5 stars but they did not take credit cards as their machine was not working. Would have been better to alert us to this at the start of the meal and not the end.

Sava Mechelen is a local pub and Spanish Tapasbar. All tapas are freshly prepared. The pub is open from 9 am until at least midnight (in weekends later). A selection of tapas is available all day. Known for its nice wines and cava by the glass and a varie
We were not expecting such delicious tapas in Mechelen, but the restaurant deserves its high rating. The fish stew- "Pescado a la Vizcaina" hit the spot, and everything else was good too. The calamari were as they should be, the chorizo was good and generous, and the patatas bravas were served with sauce on the side, since I'm no fan of tomato sauce. The albondigas were tasty too. We could not fault this relaxed, inexpensive and authentic tapas bar.

Reservations are necessary!Ronda has quite an extensive menu with Moroccan food. The restaurant was recommended by friends and we weren't disappointed. Au contraire.Friendly and swift service. Portions are more than ok. Highly recommended if you want to try something else. The place is small and crowded on peak hours. Due to the chattering around me, I found it difficult to understand my partner because I have hearing problems. This is of course not an issue with the restaurant but keep in mind it can be a loud place. You need to make reservations because this restaurant is very popular.

I was invited for dinner by a Dutch friend. We both did not know what to expect but soon we realised that this was a really nice price quality Italian/Belgian restaurant. Nice menu: I chose Belgian cheese croquettes which were greatly prepared (crusty and lovely melting cheese inside). The scallopini were also excellent! Nice service and very close to the E19 highway.

Quiet on a Tuesday evening, and our hostess gave us plenty of attention, suggesting dishes and describing them to help the choice process. Swordfish carpaccio, scampi and antipasto Umbro all excellent. The preferred white wine was unavailable, but the hostess suggested an alternative which was close in taste and very nice. The same thing happened with the choice of red later. For the mains, lemon veal, sea bass were very tasty. Only small comment: could do with vegetables to be added. All food was exceptional.
