Find out what Mediterranean restaurants to try in Maputo. Maputo, the lush capital of Mozambique, sits on the shore of the Indian Ocean. Founded as a port town by the Portuguese, the influence of travelers and traders from Africa, Asia, and Europe, has made the city a diverse and lively metropolis. The area is famous for its prawns in peri-peri sauce, a spicy concoction made from an especially hot African chili pepper. Calm down your taste buds afterwards with a beer at one of the many bars and nightclubs in the Fere de Populare neighborhood.

We enjoyed our evening sitting in this little unpretentious restaurant which served quite a lot of tapas. We have been to many restaurants in Maputo where they called the dishes "tapas", but they were really main dishes. This restaurant served nice tasting food in little portions. We sat inside to avoid smoke and it was pleasant with light 70s music in the background. Our waiter, Atanasio, was knowledgeable and very pleasant. Apparently the restaurant had good Portuguese wine. I enjoyed the glass I had, but will definitely have to come back with more wine drinkers so that I can taste other favors as well.Prices were not cheap, but they were overly high either. We recommend the place to people who want to try a variety of foods and wines in a nice and quiet atmosphere.

We ordered the steak grilled on a stone plate and were surprised by the portion and after we grilled it, the taste. It was so good! I also recommend to try the house salad- has a lot of fruits it in which was refreshing. The vibe of the place was also relaxed and the decor was nice. Only complaint is that the waffle that we ordered for dessert was too stiff and eggy.

A fresh green note in the heart of Maputo. Mediterranean cuisine Greek tastes and tropical cocktails. A restaurant cafe bar that will fulfill your senses
The atmosphere at the outdoor tables here is wonderfully relaxing, and the staff takes good care of you. What I like best is the extensive menu with lots of small plates for sharing. The samosas with cheese, honey, and sesame seeds are absolutely outstanding. The beer-battered fried courgettes served with tzatziki were good as well although somewhat lacking in garlic and salt. I was a bit disappointed in the prawn "saganaki" which did not resemble any saganaki I've previously had before, but it was tasty regardless. I would happily have tried the stuffed vine leaves and many of the other dishes. If you are vegetarian you will be very happy with the many veggie selections here. It is not inexpensive but the value for the quality of food, atmosphere, and service is quite high. Recommended.

Went with the family to have lunch on a Sunday. The place was about 80% full. The service was acceptable but the food was very poor. The calamari was dry and chewy and my steak was bad. Tasteless, dry and pretty dull. Which is quite hard to achieve on a medium rare steak! Actually tasted like microwave food!!!Disappointing!

Delicious sumptuous local food. A unique fusion of local and traditional Portuguese dishes served with style. For starters try the samoosas, shrimp rissole and beef croquettes. Fillet espetada and Portuguese chicken pieces was another favorite. Puddings to die for - chocolate ice cream cake, mousse and cashew tart.... tried them all and will do it again

One of the nicest restaurants in Maputo. The view is incredible, overlooking the bay. Food and drinks are expensive but of a high standard. Definitely a place to visit if you are in town.
