Just arrived in Portugal and had to come here to eat "Vitela à Moda de Fafe" (Calf Fafe Style)! One of my old time restaurant in my hometown. Family style food with a rustic environment and friendly staff.On day to avoid is Wednesday as the the weekly market so it's always fully packed!

Having my 10 YO son cooking at home, it's no surprise that when he saw a Tomahawk on menu he went on overdrive!To start I asked for a Martin's Miller Gin and, although good, was too light as if there was to much tonic water. Unfortunately served on the wrong glass (same as red wine!)So we started with the appetizers - olives and tuna patê - followed by "bolo do caco" with garlic butter (a typical bread from Madeira).When the Tomahawk arrived we felt a bit saddened with the size (it's natural to compare with the one my son cooks at home - 1,3kg! Last photo). Other than that, was cooked to perfection on a mid-rear color and with a garlic butter on the side and some sauteed potatoes with onions and bacon.Immediately asked for the wine list and it took half of the tomahawk to arrive. Unfortunately the wine was on the warm side. As it been on a cooler temperature and it would be great! I always prefer to have a chiller wine rather than a warmer wine...!After finishing we've chosen dessert but unfortunately there were a few misses: didn't have the Chocolate Fondant, no moscatel or Madeira (apparently they don't serve it here, sadly!) and no Port 20 YO!So I asked for the cookies cake with a mousse of something and sweet egg cream. Asked for the 10YO port (no 20YO) that arrived way after I finished dessert... and was served in a balloon glass...! These were the small detail that felt short of giving the 5â to them.For a small city like Fafe, this is an outstanding place but with aspects to improve that can make them go far...! Please pay attention to glassware and timing when serving. It will change our experience as customers! Le service est nul, aucun suivi, avons reçu la mise en bouche avant de commander et surtout avant de recevoir nos boissons. Avons pris le poisson du jour, avec en prime des écailles... le patron est toujours derrière ses serveurs. Mal à l'aise.

Nao e com prazer que escrevo esta avaliaçao.Apos 2 anos desde a minha primeira avaliaçao que visitei o restaurante algumas vezes e infelizmente tenho as seguintes falhas a apontar:O menu é praticamente o mesmo, mas a confeçao dos pratos deixa a dasejar. Como cozinheiro sei que quando a carne nao é de boa qualidade o melhor é exagerar no sal. E honestamente nas duas ultimas vezes que la fui, durante abril e maio deste ano toda a comida que provei tinha toda o mesmo sabor: sal, e sal em exagero.Qualidade do serviço: ja foi bom, agora... Ainda estou á espera das duas garrafas de agua que pedi. Da segunda vez que la fui este mes de maio, cheguei la com uma reserva feita pelas 20h15 e o prato principal chegou as 21h35. Duas pessoas da minha mesa cancelaram os mesmos.A carta dos vinhos: manteve a mesma, e infelizmente continua sem haver um descritivo dos vinhos ou um funcionario que os saiba descrever.As entradas: por favor nao abusem dos fritos.

à um restaurante resguardado do ruÃdo urbano, no entanto não compensa a deslocação pela gastronomia que oferece, pois poderemos encontrá-la em qualquer lugar. No entanto, este restaurante está inserido num complexo turÃstico, complexo de Rilhadas, o que faz com que seja um ótimo local para quem frequenta este complexo.
