We were visiting relatives in the area and they took us here for lunch. What a great meal. Everything was done to perfection. We tried a few appetizers and all were amazing. The saganaki/flaming cheese was excellent. Also tried a couple different dips. One was a mashed garlic spread and the other was a thick soup like spread made from tomato sauce, chilli peppers and feta cheese and some finely minced vegetables. All were served with warm pita bread and were to die for. The lamb chops and chicken cutlets are second to none. We also had the thin fried potatoes. For an excellant meal try this place. You won't be disappointed.Thank you for the great review, Fred! We're so glad you dined with us during your visit and I'm happy to hear that everything was so enjoyable. We appreciate your compliments and hope to see you again next time you're in town!

We were in Detroit for a conference, and our Lyft driver was taking us to a restaurant that turned out to be closed (cork and gabel). He asked if we liked middle eastern food, and suggested Al Ameer. It was a bit further away, but we are very glad we listened to him. The hummus, tabouleh, babaganoush, shawarma, chicken, fatoush were excellent. We have spent a lot of time in the middle east, and were thrilled with the food. The service was all it needed to be and the servings were huge (we took a lot back to the hotel). Highly recommend this place... also, the pita is made in a wood-fired oven, and it really makes a difference.
