Le Strie is in the guidebooks for a reason. This nippy, classy restaurant produces simple but delectable dishes halfway between comfort food and 'fine dining'. We are vegetarians, and ate well, from the exquisitely flavoured tomato sauce served with maccherone to the pasta e fagioli to excellent contorni and imaginative desserts. The wine list is very good too. Meat-eaters would be in seventh heaven - this is prosciutto country. When in Este, Le Strie is essentially where you'd eat.

30 mins to receive the menu and 10 minutes more to taste the warm sparkling wine. This restaurant is highly recommended-I will give you my view if I don't pass away waiting for my meal. Well the starters finally arrived and we all enjoyed it. Big time lapse to next intervention from waiters asking if we would like to order desert. We suggested we would like to savour our main course first as is traditional! When it finally arrived( 2 attempts at this and none of our making!) I tucked into to my as ordered medium fillet. Please see the picture below which is genuine. Not my idea of medium but then what do I know! The steak was tough and the pepper sauce so salty that I had to remove it before asking for the use of a steak knife to arrest hunger having waited so long. The accompanying red wine was lovely and surprisingly 'served' at good temperature. A real treat. Throughout our prolonged time here, the service when we actually received it (a rare occurrence) was with a smile but actually delivered with no sincerity. I've no idea of the cost because my friends kindly paid but whatever the price this was a wholly appalling service and culinary experience. Only saved from disaster by my company. Who by the way had researched trip advisor and had especially picked this venue. I may sound ungrateful but I'm truly sorry they wasted their hard earned cash!

It was a very modern restaurant with high quality of food. The terrace is along the street, so we preferred to sit inside. The acoustics are not great, but in general it was okay. The staff is very friendly and helped us understanding the menu.

Stylish and elegant, the restaurant is located at the center of a large garden with colorful flower beds, olive trees, green lawns and a terrace with incomparable views. You can have dinner outside under cool pergolas or inside in the cozy and bright room
There are many more of the little out of the way places in Italy than one would ever find in the USA, especially with such fine dining but after a number of single lane roads getting there just from the Radisson Blu Galzignano Terme, we arrived just as they opened on the day before the start of the Easter holiday weekend. We knew we were early but we had an early flight scheduled out the next day, so we arrived at 7pm and ordered the degustation menu of four courses. But they served what I thought was an amuse bouche first of parmesan, a piece of ham quiche, and green olives; but then that was also followed by some white prosciutto (basically fat) on a small piece of toast. I believe then, the actual 4 course menu started with some salami and regular prosciutto as the appetizer/antipasti, but then there was another dish of purple potatoes with asparagus which was so tasty but we were starting to fill up when we realized that the next dish was the pasta dish/primi platti of ribbon thin tagliatelle of nettles in green with a white meat sauce. Even though we swore to not eat it all to try and save room for the rest, we gobbled this down entirely. The main dish was duck served with a recipe that was over 500 years old but we could only eat half of what was on our plates in order to save a little room for dessert, which was a hazelnut/almond tart with hazelnut ice cream. My goodness, it was all so good and the helpings weren't necessarily American sized portions but there was just too much and all for 50⬠per person. Wow. I had to use my limited Italian and French as the wait staff might have one person fluent in English but that was fine as it added to the entire environment. How better to get out of your comfort zone than to use some guesswork to figure out your next dish? We'll have to go again!

If you are strolling around these lovely hills and you are looking for a high level cuisine, high level service a charming location you can for sure stop here, Dal Contadino. Service was really excellent, as a Michelin restaurant, and the menu is rich of local recipes. We have tried "bigoli del contadino" with vegetables and sausage and it was great. Then we had a tartare served with a large choice of ingredients among which you can choose ( capers, egg, tobasco, anchovies etc). "Tagliata" was served a little bit cold but meat's quality was not in discussion. Good choice of local wines. Final bill is of course higher than a usual trattoria but value for money is ok. Book a table on the terrace overlooking vineyards because the inside is too big and more suitable for weddings etc.

We've been coming here for 10 years! We remember when Rosie and Antonio had only 2 rooms and 3 wait staff... One was their son. ALWAYS the best service, food, and atmosphere. The place has been remodeled several times but the quality of everything is still outstanding.

A lunch with family and friends was an experience we will remember well after we return to Australia. Our table on the terrace had accidentally been given to another group. In no time at all, the staff had set up a table outside, complete with high chair for our baby and created what could only be described as a fantastic dining experience. The waiter's wine knowledge was exceptional, his knowledge of the menu and ability to explain it in both Italian and English was even better. All 8 of us loved our food, the pork neck fillet (I'm pretty sure that's what it was) was amazing. I wish I knew what the marinade was so I could try to replicate it at home. Well worth a visit here. In behalf of all the people of the staff, I want to thank you for this amazing review! You words warm our heart and make us proud of our work.We hope to see you soon in our restaurant!

We spent one evening at tarattoria Da Sgussa.Trattoria Da Sgussa, smal and cosy place, local cuisine, 5 minutes away from our agriturismo Le Volpi and actually Mattia recommended it. It was a typical local food. We loved the dishes, attentive service and nice outdoor sitting. If you stay around, I can recommend this restaurant.

We found the place just by chance, after hiking in the nearby hill. We noticed:* excellent cordiality:a) they received us even if we came in a non-standard hour without reservation;b) they treated us with really nice manners.* good food: we ordered some appetizers, first courses and desserts. The quality vs. price ratio was extremely favourable.* nice environment: the place is really clean, cured and cozy.
