Not much English spoken, but we got by. Massive Caesar salad and also given a couple of tapas plates. Menu of the day seemed great value, but more than we wanted. The beer was ice cold as was the glass it came in. Fantastic for a hot day.

I live in Benferri and have been gradually watching the demise of eateries near me.So,I took it upon myself to venture a little a further a field. Thanks to....you've guessed it,Tripadvisor I chose Don Grunon.A cozy little tapas bar, playing jazz and a tv screen with no volume....what could be better! The place is run by a husband and wife team( you don't have to be reminded, as there must be 100 photos of them around the bar in their glory days!)Ok,lets get to the nitty gritty, the food was only average, the wine was good value, but the tables(although nice)were a pain!!!You are forever chasing your plate around the table,as the tables are all ceramic tiled!!I was there on my own, however I feel it is worth another go,so next time I'm in Albatera I will visit again.Your satisfaction is my happiness. Don Gruñón is your house. Thanks.

We last visited this authentic Spanish restaurant about 5 years ago and again today; we were greeted by friendly waitress who took time to listen to my basic Spanish. There are 2 menus, one at 10⬠and the other at 15â¬. We decided on the more expensive as there was a greater choice. Drinks were served promptly along with a whole rustic cob loaf with salsa and allioli, just for the 2 of us. All very tasty. My husband had the Iberico plate and I had the grilled cheese, both very tasty. A huge salad came next followed by our mains of pork fillet in pepper sauce, so tender and plenty of it too. We finished with our choice of crema Catalans and good strong coffee. The bill came with a small bottle of some kind of fruit liqueur. All in the 15@â¬. I think we will go back very soon!

Our last night we tried here, wish we had done so earlier i our holiday. 2 of our party had the mussels in white wine, WOW is all i can say, a generous portion and lovely fresh bread to mop up all the juices, the sliced meats were also huge in portion size. Mains were again brilliant, lasagne, veal escalope and carbonara were devoured. I was too full to attempt a sweet but was assured the apple slice with ice cream was delicious. All in all a brill meal for a very sensible price.

The Mercat Bar, is becoming the meeting point, not only of all those who visit the Provisional Central Market, but among all lovers of good food. A modern space, adapted and with an unbeatable quality and good service. If something can boast this establis
Quite often you can find good food close to the main market, which we did in Elche. At the far end of a busy market with tables outside. Good salad, zamburiñas (scallops) and 2 local rice dishes with Jumilla wine. Good service and excellent food. Would definitely return.
