We stumbled upon this place by accident really, and we were not disappointed! We went for a birthday lunch, and couldn't have been happier with our choice of restaurant. It was a beautiful setting sat outside in the quiet gardens, and the staff were exceptional throughout. Most importantly - the food was delicious, and the paired wines were absolutely perfect. Although on the upper end in terms of price, it was totally worth it! We even took home a bottle of local wine for £8 - total bargain.

We were staying at Masseria Gattamora and fancied a change from eating there. This place is just over 5 minutes away. This is a bar with a separate restaurant area and was very busy and buzzing. The house red wine was by the carafe and was cheap and lovely. They did some nice rosso beer, a change from the Italian lagers. We had an antipasto buffet at 5 euros a head, it had a great range of different vegetables. We didnât try them but the pizzas looked interesting, they sell them by the metre!!thank you so much Zappafanman!

Tradition and innovation, these are the ingredients of the Mulino a Vento restaurant, especially rich and varied, which perfectly reflects the Mediterranean diet, typical of this region. In a comfortable and refined ambience, thanks to the deep knowledge
We had 3 dinners, one lunch and 3 breakfasts here while staying at the hotel. It is a lovely place, with very stylish outdoor seating and a large white indoor space. They take service seriously here. Local cuisine with modern twists, like the risotto with shrimps and orange, and also the swordfish carpaccio is fondly remembered. My compliments to all the people in the kitchen, and also the friendly waiting staff and managers.

Highly regarded locally as a destination restaurant which specialises in catering for large parties. Basically a converted country farmhouse a few miles south of Otranto offering a slightly confusing menu of limited variations which can be turned out on an industrial basis. We visited on a Saturday evening and got one of the tables on the outside patio whilst three large parties equating to about 150 locals got at it inside a kind of airy conservatory by the side of the main building.Pretty obvious that it was going to be a long, slow evening as the focus was clearly on the area of most intensive demand, and staff numbers seemed to be pretty minimal. Consequently, the prolonged wait to place our order, get served and have subsequent detritus removed was an experience shared by all tables around us, with various levels of patience overtly demonstrated.Tactically, I wasn't too sure how to pace myself for a potential 5-course meal. I was even more concerned when the anti-pasti arrived; 9 generous dishes of buffet style snacks and plate-fillers, including some very more-ish fried items. No delineation made between tables for two or more - everyone got the same amount. A long while later, we moved onto a bowl of pasta and meatballs- about the size of a normal meal for me at home. After polishing off most of that, and enduring yet another extended wait, the main course arrived. I'd ordered a mixed grill, and what a puny example it was; a weedy thin steak, a long narrow sausage, and a few bits of pork on a skewer. Not impressed. We'd been in situ for 150 minutes, the hard wooden chairs were starting to get uncomfortable, all the actually very good house wine had gone, and we still had 2 more courses to go. In the meantime, the staff were still running around attending to the needs of party individuals grinding through basically the same menu as us.Decided to call it a day and decline whatever was left, so got the attention of a waiter scuttling by. Amazingly, within about 10 minutes I had dealt with the bill and departed.Apparently the large car park, situated in a bit of scrub on the other side of the building, seems to double up as is a playground for diner's kids, so any future attendees - drive carefully!Obviously I wouldn't bother to ever go back but, to be fair, at least the partygoers were having a whale of a time. And it wasn't expensive.

Arriving at the agriturismo, one is immediately struck by the beautiful garden area lit with lanterns and fairy lights and scattered with comfortable seating, where one can enjoy a pre-dinner of post dinner drink. The restaurant area itself is stylish and modern with large bi-fold windows opening out onto a small terrace so guests may eat both outside or in. A pleasant atmosphere is created by restful music which adds to the ambiance. The young, attentive waiter did his best to guide us through the vocabulary of the Italian menu. Thank you. (our Italian classes will begin in September!) The antipasto of the land was beautifully presented (a platter containing a variety of vegetable dishes) . An enjoyable start to our meal. The white, house wine was exceedingly pleasant. My husband enjoyed his fish en papillote and my pasta and prawn dish was very tasty. Sadly, too full to try desserts! A lovely venue, recently opened I believe, which offers a most enjoyable meal in very pleasant surroundings. We wish the owners of this business great success in the future as they appear to have all the right ingredients for a successful restaurant.

A lively bar/ restaurant on the Main Street. A superb selection of burgers ( kangaroo, wild boar, venison, buffalo-,amongst others) with accompanying sauces and contorni. In addition, a great selection of al Spina beers. Down to earth, honest fare very reasonably priced.

Matisse is a local restaurant in Uggiano, a relatively sleepy village just outside Otranto. We rated Matisse first for setting and ambience, first for food standard and choice and first for services and fair price. It is definitely worth the time to visit for dinner, would go back in a heart beat.

The Terra Degli Ulivi is a great restaurant honouring the Puglian food and wines. It is served with a big smile and love. Excellent price quality and very popular to local people which says a lot. Try it out you will not be dissappointed. Thank you for the great experience.

We ate there last night and had the pleasure of meeting at the chef. She is delightful and her cooking is so fabulous we booked again for our last night Otranto. My husbund had the swordfish with egg plant to die for and I had the tubettini with grouper which I dreamed about last night. They are lovely people and we cannot wait to return.
