On a side street by the park, this small and cosy restaurant, with walls decorated with poems made for it and torero spears, does have some charm.Food is cheap, just what is expected in Portugal, and somehow tasty, especially the beef. There are always 3-4 specials for dinner and some more for lunch, depending on what fisherman brought that day.Internet is available and the TV is on all the time.

Love this little restaurant, the food is very tasty, great wines, good coffee, nice ambiance. It is small and busy, so be on time, or you have to be patient to sit down. There are a few tables outside. They have tapas, sandwiches, menu of the day, great cheeses and tasty desserts. My favorite are the spicy mussels and the liver. It is nice that you can order wine by the glass. Good coffee and had a nice piece of lemon cake. Not too expensive, with the two of us we spent 23 euros, had 3 dishes, bread, wine, water, 2 coffee and 1 cake. Can definitely recommend, one of my favorite ones in Caldas!

Went here on a Saturday evening and it was obviously busy, explained to the waiter we were going on some where afterwards and in a bit of a rush. The food arrived very promptly and it was a delight.Prices were very reasonable, food quality and presentation excellent, although we only had drinks and pizzas which were great the other food also looked lovely. This restaurant is ideal for families, as you can sit inside or out, the outside is in one of the many pedestrianized areas in the centre of Caldas.

Let me tell you that around this area there are any number of good value restaurants serving plain but good wholesome food for prices that make you wonder how they can do it. Yet this wee place stands out from the rest in terms of value, views, service and friendliness! You are not going to be ordering anything fancy but if you want homemade good local food then , for instance, their fried chicken n chips portugese style will set you back about â¬6 ! The vinho da casa is served in jugs ( jarro litre or half litre) and is very drinkable. Two people, litre of red, chicken for one , bitoque for the other, pudding to share , oh and before that the usual bread n olives to start will set you back about â¬11 in total! The views over the valleys from the huge windows are wonderful and the staff are friendly! In the typical café bar at the front you can listen to the echo of some colourful local vernacular " hey Pitou, comesta?" Etc with lots of laughter going on at end of a working day as a beer or two slip down.Find it and enjoy !

Occasionally small Portuguese family-run restaurants have the capacity to surprise with authentic good value meals, there are several to be discovered in this area like Manelvina and Janeca. But Solar dos Amigos more than surprises, itâs off the scale in terms of quality, value and service, and most importantly the food is delicious. The style of the restaurant is like being in a sprawling farmhouse, and itâs dining rooms have a traditional feel with horses and horsemanship as a theme throughout but the charcoal grill takes centre stage. Additionally there is a really well stocked bar with a good range of gins and a wine list that caters from bargain bottles to fine wine. On arrival at our table a bag of hot bread and the non-obligatory platter of delicacies was just a sign of things to come. Slices of smoked chourico, olives, fig conserve, cheesy cod fritters, 3 cheeses and 2 cold meats, washed down with a litre of dark berry laden Sangria Espumante served as warning to loosen our trouser belts, and cost the restaurant our starter order. We decided on the beef rib steak and grilled cod mains, but on the advice of LuÃs our waiter, wine guide and ownerâs grandson, who suggested one main course between 2 would be ample, we saved the cod for our next visit and chose the beef. And that beef was superb; thickly sliced and perfectly seasoned, hot and chargrilled exterior, yet a tender deep red interior. Easily a match for the best Argentinian parilla-cooked rib-eye, and plenty for 2.With the meat came hot crispy salty chips, and small bowls of rice, and beans, and roast sweet potato, and green veg. This amazing feast was followed by a selection of fantastic homemade desserts. Though personally I was finished...I couldnât manage another mouthful. This amazing meal including a litre of Sangria each, came to â¬37 per person including tip. (Note it is cash only - no cards)I canât recommend it highly enough nor can we wait to go back.

We have been coming to Sabores de Italia for since 2000, and have always felt it was something special. For several reasons we did not come for 5 years, and decided to visit today. Still the same good welcoming feeling, a very pleasant dining room with very comfortable seating, and a warm welcome from the owner. The menu has several very interesting choices, but we went for a pasta with veggies and the prawn puff pastry....both really delicious; we had started with a great capers salad (which was served already in 2 dishes). And despite other tantalizing dessert choices, I just had to go to the unique experience of the âFantasia de Pera Rochaâ; I still remembered how much I liked before, and how exquisite it really is. Great! To finish off, coffees come with sugar-covered orange skin.It really felt good to be back, and we will come again and again.Final note to the young and friendly staff. Although they still have to learn a bit, they sure look genuinely friendly and always trying to make your experience really good. Well done guys!We thank you very much for your kind visit and great evaluation. It is always a great honor to see and receive old and usual customers.
