Amazing restaurant featuring the famous porcini mushrooms that abound in that area. Just allow the waiter to order you up several courses. Imaginative uses and delicious. Probably the best restaurant in that neck of the woods. They will sell you mushrooms and will shrink wrap them for USA entry .

Torneremo

Emilia-Romagna is all about the food. We had dinner at the Locanda Mariella (Località Fragnolo I, 43030 Calestano) after spending a day in Parma in late May 2013. We followed the winding roads through the rolling hills - as described in the Michelin guide, which gives this small osteria a Bib Gourmand - and arrived at the Locanda around 19:30, so we were almost the first group there. The place filled up quickly after that - all locals (or, at least, Italian speakers). The food was wonderful. For antipasti, I had speck di anatra di lieve affumicatura (lightly smoked speck made from duck), followed by a primi of cappelletti in brodo di manzo piemontese e gallina allevata a terra (cappelletti in Piemonte region beef and free range chicken broth). For secondi, I tried the battuta di fassona piemontese (macelleria Brarda) con acciughe e caperi (piatto fredo) - Piemonte region Fassona beef from the butcher Brarda (Cavour, Torino) 'beaten with the knife' with anchovies and capers (ie: steak tartare) and for dolci I shared a crema di ricotta con salsa fragole (ricotta cream and strawberry sauce).Antipasti ranged from â¬7 to â¬10, primi piatti from â¬8 to â¬10, secondi piatti â¬10 to â¬13 and dolci were all â¬6.The wine list was extensive and well priced. Service was welcoming, as you would expect from a family-run establishment that has been in the same hands for generations.Don't miss it if you're in the Parma area.
