We were recommended by a local bar owner to dine at this restuarant. What a find!As is was a cool evening we dined inside (outside you overlook the harbour) a pleasant room with cool decor. We ordered starters of Calamare and scallops both dishes absolutely delicious. For our main course we ordered the Arroz Bogavante (rice with lobster) which was really really good washed down with the local house red. The service was good too, the waiting staff friedly and attentive. All in all a great evening thoroughly recommended by us.

Iâd like to say this upfront. I totally disagree about the staff here being unfriendly. That was certainly not our experience. This is a busy, lively restaurant and yes, sometimes you need to make it clear when you need some attention but overall everyone who works here is very helpful and professional.Galicia is well known for itâs fish and seafood and this is the place to come to sample it at its best. The standout fish dish for us was the octopus and potato. The octopus is cooked until itâs really tender, then itâs sliced and fried in very hot oil with garlic which slightly caramelizes it. The fish arrives to the table sizzling, make sure you use your bread to mop up the delicious oil and garlic juices. We rate this both times we visited.Other good dishes where the seafood risotto, crispy prawns with aioli and the chargrilled vegetables. The coffee flan for dessert is excellent. They also have a good list of local wines. Good buzz and atmosphere with lots of happy diners just off the harbour in Baiona.

The worst meal weâve experienced during our trip to Galicia by far... A shared Caribbean salad for starters which had crab sticks in for âcrabâ , cheap ham & tinned pineapple amongst other ingredients. Our mains were poor - mine had microwaved reheated chicken breast in a strange herby sauce ( I heard the ping of the microwave) & my husband had the garlic chicken which was just satisfactory. The desserts of crepe Suzette & brownies with ice cream were of the same standard. Other diners seemed similarly underwhelmed. Nothing wrong with the service just the quality of the food .

I visited this restaurant last Sunday with my family and parents. We booked a table for 9pm and were the first to arrive, (which was expected). The restaurant however filled up over the next 2hrs. All the staff were extremely helpful and friendly and the restaurant, (particularly the toilets) were exceptionally clean. My wife and I had the mixed seafood platter which was very extensive, tasty and well presented. My parents shared a sea bream which they informed me in true low key, don't like to complain British style was apparently a touch on the dry side.We had a couple of bottles of wine, coffees and a few desserts plus starters of salt cod, (VERY) salty though a generous portion, and the fried cheese - excellent. The bill was reasonable rather than fantastic value.I was a decent experience but not ground breaking and we visited primarily because we were only staying just up the road.

Fresh Sea Food And Iberic Meats.
At lunch yesterday, we asked the owner (Fuentes de Zeta, wonderful) for a suggestion for dinner. She suggested this place. We walked and it was a good long walk from the main area of Baiona. I think we got there at 9:30 and we're the first ones in the place. So funny how late they eat here. By the time we left it was crowded. We had one of their specialty dished which was a pasta with shrimp and it was delicious. If there is a negative, the server was friendly but not warm. May have been the language barrier. The place was also warm. If 3.5 stars were allowed, I'd do that. Food was very good quality.

The range, quality and variety of seafood on offer is outstanding. The owner presents you with a list of what is on offer that day, with prices. Discuss what you like with him, heâll give you good advice and help you chose a suitable menu.We had Dublin Bay prawns, sole, and very interesting desserts. Everything was excellent. You could taste the ocean in the prawns, the sole was fresh and firm and boned in an instant at our table, it was served with a simple salad and potatoes. The restaurant is adorned with a vast range of reasonably priced wines. The standout dessert was a mock cappuccino made of coffee cream and goats cheese, with some delicious additions we couldnât place. This is a serious restaurant, book to secure a table and settle in for a long lunch or dinner.

Ten of us shared a table and the most delicious selection of fresh barnacles, small sea scallops in their shell, pulpo- A MUST-and a Rice with Bogavante- Lobster that was out of this world. To sit in the window and watch the waves crash over the rocks outside is fantastic- and to enjoy the wonderful seafood from that sea is even better. The owner is most helpful and gracious- ask him for the latest and freshest.Enjoy

The mason is set by a charming coastal little town. Typically traditional with a sailor kind of touch, this place sets you up to a relaxing and bountiful dinner. Cherveza and jambon iberico's quality are up to the expectations.

I've been in bayona a few times already and always same ending, the best place to go and eat excellent seafood (octopus is absolutly great), is El Balneario. Not just for the quality of the food, but for the service (David is incredible and will make you feel at home).
