Mediterranean seafood restaurant. 7 Thalasses brings the experience and quality in seafood to Rethymno. Our restaurant is located right by the sea in Thalassa Boutique Hotel. Dietary consciousness towards the beginning of the Cretan - Mediterranean diet i
Wow! From the warm welcome when we arrived to the attentive service by both owner and staff, we knew this place was something special. The location is fabulous, overlooking the ocean along Rethymnonâs coast road, and just a few metres from where we were staying. The eating area extends out above the sea where, at night, the glass viewing balcony allows you not only to gaze out to sea but also to watch the fish swim and jump in the blue-green water among the waves. This is a specialist fish restaurant where both owner and chef clearly know their stuff. Nibbles of bread with local baby olives and a pot of tzatziki to dip it in was gorgeous but the Saganaki Monkfish to start was an absolute triumph - tender chunks of monkfish in a cream, tomato and brandy (?) sauce with a hint of chilli. Lobster Linguine served at the table is an expensive choice at â¬42 for two, but absolutely worth it....morsels and mouthfuls of creamy lobster in a delicate tomato sauce with a rustic linguine thatâs both filling and delicious. The wine list is extensive - the house red was warm and moreish - and a small ice cold bottle of Mastiha (the famous pine resin-flavoured greek liqueur) to follow a delicious pudding of cream cheese pie with honey was absolute perfection. The waiting staff are all friendly, warm and multi-lingual, keen to help and to make sure you have everything you need right when you need it. The owner is rightly proud of his business and heâll happily tell you the history of the building and how he came to find himself here....he clearly loves not only this island and Greek culture but wants his customers to love it too and his eagerness to make sure youâre happy is so lovely! If youâre visiting Rethymnon, 7 Thalasses is definitely worth a visit. Itâs out on the coast road, about 10 minutes by taxi from the harbour, or a 25 minute walk if youâre that way inclined. We loved it and have plenty of time left on our holiday yet to go back for more!

Weâve just come back from 2 weeks in Crete and this gorgeous beach bar did a whole lot to make our holiday as a family of 10 the best weâve had. The food was great, actually it was more than great, it was fantastic. The local Greek cuisine especially was the best we had in the area. Being a family of 10 we had the opportunity to taste most of the menu and there wasnât a disappointing dish on there. The ice creams are a delicious surprise, served in the skin of whatever fruit you choose, coconut, melon etc etc and wow, so fruity and so more-ish. The poor kids were fighting off the adults to eat them Beer is icy cold, the red wine full of body and the cocktails are great too. But donât just go for the food and drink. The beautiful setting means youâll be up and down like a yo-yo taking photo after photo of the stunning sunsets, seriously awesome skies viewed from Roulis Bar. Our kids also loved being able to body board just a little distance away from us where we could keep an eye on them. Win win for our family! Thank you so much Roulis and Anna and Micheal and the lovely girl, so sorry I didnât catch your name, who served us so many times. You were such a lovely and unexpected part of our holiday and we truly hope to come back and see you all again. The kindness you showed us on our last night when my son became ill will not ever be forgotten by us.
Adele Food Guide: 10 Must-Eat Restaurants & Street Food Stalls in Adele
A new taverna and grill in Adele, Rethymno. We are proud to be finally open and serve local food from local producers. Come and see for yourself!
We discovered Taverna Petrakas completely by accident after we made a wrong turn. The sign drew us in and we are so happy we saw it! The chef, in his brilliant white chef's jacket, welcomed us with a big smile and seated us at one of the comfy tables. He brought us the menu and we immediately noticed the lamb chops, available by the kilo, and we knew we had made the right choice of a spot for dinner. The waiter approached us with pad in hand and we were ready to order. We ordered, for starters, the feta with olive oil and oregano and fried eggplant. The generous piece of feta was perfectly adorned with Cretan olive oil and just the right amount of oregano. And this was for sure the very best fried eggplant we had ever had, the coating was similar to a tempura batter and, inside, the eggplant was perfectly creamy and delicious. The feta we loved and savored and smeared it all over the toasted bread which they brought us. So far, a home run!We ordered the kilo of lamb chops and it arrived, perfectly seared and cooked, hot and smothered in golden fried Cretan potatoes. We decided not to worry about manners and picked up those lamb chops with both hands and dove into their deliciousness. And we practically finished the entire kilo and, again, that wonderful feta was great alongside that luscious lamb meat! We really enjoyed our Cretan culinary idyll in Adele. The server was very friendly and the chef, clearly proud of his art, created for us a delicious memorable dinner and warm welcome. In speaking with the charming server, we learned they had just opened for business a month ago. With this quality of food and warmth of their hospitality, they will surely soon become one of the most desirable dining spots in the area. The prices are quite reasonable for this high quality of home-cooked food.We highly recommend Taverna Petrakas as being a wonderful discovery. Just goes to show that often the best surprises are just around a wrong turn!Dear visitor, for a new business like us, it's so nice receiving such a thorough and enthusiastic review. We thank you so much for that. We are sure your review will be very helpful for a lot of people.Thank you so much and we hope to see you again soon.
