Better be hungry to enjoy the excellent local food, including, of course, the polenta. I had a mixed plate. You will have to drive a few miles to climb up to the "Chalet Gabriele" but it really worth it : you are in the mountains with a wonderful view over Lake Como. The atmosphere was a bit strange :) but it was a cold evening of april, with just a few clients. We really enjoyed the food and the view all along the dinner.

It was a bit hard to find out the exact location of this little, cozy restaurant. It certainly does not aim at impressing the customers with furniture and environment, but with food. The choice is limited, but I had a brilliant lunch with local products and liked every single bit from the starter (bresaola) to the main course (ravioli / spätzle) to the dessert (sbrisolona). def worth a bit of searching, and close by the panorama is really breathtaking!

As I stepped into the restaurant I was charmed by itâs peculiar look. Rustic and refined at the same time. Furthermore, they used some musical instruments as decoration.â¨The appetizer consisted of an alchoolic (or non if you prefear) fruity juice, and a little plate of crunchy chicken thighs.â¨As main course I had an âamerican styleâ hamburger, though, me and my tablemates couldnât help taste eachother serving. This was possible given the generous rations. Not only were our meals palatable, they also were garnished with lovely, colorful (and tasty!) vegetables, such as caramel onions.I had a delicious pear and chocolate silce of cake for dessert.â¨Waiting was just good. Our waitress was polite and very nice.Summarising, we had a quality dinner for an affordable price.â¨We really enjoyed our night out, and I advise groups, families or couples to try out this marvellous restaurant!

It is nice and cozy family restaurant. It's not the typical fashionable place, but the more important thing is that the staff is really helpful and friendly. Everything we ate was really delicious. The lasagna, octopus and eggplant cooked with tomato sauce and mozzarella were absolutely stunning. If you go there, try their caramel custard, you, won't find better.

Excellent location on the lake, I recommend booking a table. Food was very nice, I would have given it 5 stars if the squid had not been quite salty.

Staff extraordinarily friendly and helpful. Suggested 3 dishes of which we had 2 both of which were amazing. Made gluten free pizza as requested which was fairly good. Starter plate of meat was excellent. Air conditioning not strong enough which meant it was very warm.

Typical restaurant with a modern twist. Between the quietness of centuries trees, a large car park and terrace for al fresco dining, few meters from the main beach of the area, with rustic and welcoming style is the right place where to stop for an except
We had arrived in Lierna after more than 24 hours of travel. Il Crotto looked inviting. We were greeted by the owners, ate al fresco with complimentary Procecco. Our meal was outstanding with the owner explaining that each dish including the desserts were all made in-house. What an outstanding ending to a full and tiresome day.

Lunch with friends. Delicious, well-prepared, and authentic regional dishes (Valtellina). I had "sciat" (small fried cheese balls), pizzoccheri (buckwheat tagliatelle) alla Valtellina, and then osso buco for the main course. There were so many of my favorite dishes that it was hard to choose. The service was friendly and professional. The restaurant itself is comfortable, bright and airy. A pretty property with ample parking. It is located above the eastern "leg" of Lake Como with a lovely view of the lake, mountains and towns on the opposite (eastern) shore. I hope to return on my next rip to the area.

Read my review of the apartments to rent next to restaurant for a full review. Bottom line - our party of carnivores, vegetarians and vegans were all full to the brim and more with the most delicious food possible. And think about it, if you stay overnight, you won't have to walk down the hill in the dark full of the best food and alcohol!
