Clear waters teem with coral, perfect for snorkeling and diving. Above sea level you’ll find multicolored sands lined with beach shacks. This small enclave of the Dominican Republic was once a haven for Jewish refugees. Historic sites and synagogues offer great perspective on Sosua’s postwar identity. On a lighter note, a community of ex-pats helps fuel a boisterous, international nightlife scene.

The Mofongo King is one of the nicest and poshest bar cafes on Sosua's main beach. The place is clean, modern, well-attended, and the staff is excellent. And, while both the food and drinks are fantastic and reasonably priced, it's the beach and the passersby that are the real stars of the show!

Without a doubt, the best meal I have had to date in the Dominican Republic, with an amazing view! Great food choices, though no parking or special amenities...if you're looking for 5-star comfort or' Chicness'...this is not it. The food and view and service makes up 50 times for air conditioning, etc.

In January 2017, while walking in Sosua, we noticed this tucked away Jamacian restaurant. They are located close to Helados Bon Ice Ceam shop ... On the street named "Calle Dr. Rosen" ... Back in January 2017, they were open daily from around 10:30 am until 11:00 pm on the weekdays ... and stayed open a bit later on the weekends. We decided to stop by for a drink and met Alex and Junior, who work, manage and/or own this restaurant. Very friendly guys who kept us entertained throughout our visit.I can honestly say that I am a jerk chicken/pork conissur, as I grew up with Jamacian friends, often tasted authentic Jamacian food at local eateries during my two trips to Montego Bay and also have a family member who spent a long time perfecting his homemade authentic jerk seasoning spice. After stopping by a few times for drinks, we decided to have dinner one night and we were not disappointed.I had the jerk chicken, while my friend who is a vegetarian, had jerk vegetables which were especially made to accomodate her dietary requirements. Our generous dinner portions came with a side of vegetables, plantains, rice and peas with additional jerk sauce on the side.My friend and I thoroughly enjoyed our meals, the chicken was so moist and delicious ... I travel to Sosua often and this will now be one restaurant that I will make sure to frequent prior to leaving the island!!!Thanks Alex and Junior (Mr. T) ... LOL ...

This little hole in the wall is beside OK motors, on the right as you turn into the (what used to be Coastal gas station) Next gas station. I've had the empanadas and they are delicious, but today we had breakfast there and it was also very good. The owner is a wonderful person and is always pleasant. And the food is reasonably priced. Great spot hidden in plain view on the road from Sosua to Cabarete.
