What would you expect at a restaurant named Guacamole Taqueria. Actually, the salsas are very good and homemade, too. Guacamole Taqueria is located on Dempster St., just east of Harlem Ave. The interior is quite contemporary. The food was very good. We had a couple of tacos, a chili relleno and an al pastor. We also ordered a pollo burrito. I have to admit that I was disappointed that there is no ground beef option. But the guac does make up for that. Guacamole Taqueria is a family-owned business and the staff was efficient and friendly. It really seems like they want you to come back.
I've eaten at El Sol several times recently, taking advantage of both their lunch buffet as well as ordering from their menu. The food has been fresh and flavorful and nicely presented. Their buffet includes a nice salad buffet, several entries, soup, rice, beans, potatoes and vegetables, and fruit and flan. All good and at the right temperature. The service is personal as they are very interested in your satisfaction. The ambiance is very comfortable and open so conversations at normal levels are possible. I've only been here for lunches so I don't know if dinner time is noiser. I like this restaurant and recommend it. My only minor criticism is that there are no labels identifying the buffet items or salad dressings. When asked, they are happy to tell you so don't be shy.

Someone suggested that we try Savory Crust Gourmet Empanadas and, believe me, we were not disappointed at all. Savory Crust Gourmet Empanadas is located in a medium-sized strip mall with lots of parking on the northeast corner of Dempster St. and Harlem Ave. We got there just a short time before closing and the service was excellent. The prices were reasonable, as well. With the empanadas, they will advise you which ones are left. For the best selection, get their early. We ordered a chicken empanada and a bowl of adobo pork. We also ordered a side, a small bowl of Mexican street corn. The chicken empanads were very good and filled with plenty. The pork adobo was tasty and the pork was very tender. The sauce veggies in the rice bowl really added a lot of flavor. I couldn't finish the whole bowl of pork adobo, but they were nice enough to add more adobo sauce to the top for eating later. The bowl of Mexican street corn was perfectly spiced and hot, though I do prefer the traditional - on the cob street corn. The prices are reasonable and the staff is very nice. The only downside that I saw is that the tables and chairs are higher, and not regular heights. There is also seating at a counter along the front window. There is a nice selection of soft drinks.

Eleven of us to celebrate two birthdays. Ages 10-82. Rebecca did a nice job of serving. An initial problem with poor seating arrangement and location, after booking with precise description. Objected. Promptly relocated to more intimate, non-confined location.Food was very good. No complaints. Mostly favorable comments. Orders:Tostadas steak, enchiladas dinner, kids flautas, fajitas vegatarianas, pollo borracho, kids tacos/lechuga, carne tampiquena,, taqiza d cameron (eh! popcorn shrimp used), fajita combo with extra veggie and tilapia rellena de cangre. satisfied the vegetarian diners and the carnivores as well as kids. "Suggested" gratuity of 20% explicitly added to total. Avg. cost $22 plus (included two margaritas.) Had a lot of fun. .Sombreros and "happy birthday" singing. So far this is the best Mexican restaurant discovered on the North Shore. Friendly Mexican atmosphere, well attended and busy.

Spotted this little restaurant when visiting the yoga studio across the street. Read the menu in the window and was impressed by the sophistication of the offerings. It didn't take long to persuade my husband to stop in for a meal on a Saturday night. We were lucky to get a table for two without a reservation, as the place holds only seven tables and three more outdoors. Would recommend making a reservation. We extremely enjoyed our choices of mushroom tacos and chicken mole tacos. The mole was deep, earthy and not sweet as many other places seem to favor. My entree of Camarones Ixtapa, a shrimp dish, was good, but not as good as the tacos. The side of beans my husband ordered were pretty straight forward. Not sure if Yolo's tortillas are home made, but they sure tasted like it. And so wonderfully fresh. My husband is Mexican-American and really loved the food overall here, as did I. Tasteful decor. Special place to bring an out-of-town guest. By the way, Yolo is short for the native Mexican language (Nahautl) word "Yolotl," meaning "heart."

My husband and I visited Libertad after a show at Skokie theater for a late dinner. We were so glad that we found this gem! Welcoming and friendly staff that still believes in customers service. The food was perfectly flavored and the presentation was excellent. The quality of the food was definitely fine dining but in a casual atmosphere. Loved it! Thanks Libertad for an excellent experience!
