Island Empanada

The empanadas are good, not great. They are a bit too heavy on the crust with too much on the ends. Also the batch I had was over-fried. Have had better empanada's off very good food truck in Manhattan. Still not bad and not a bad option.Hello Patrick, I am very sorry to hear that you didn’t find our empanadas exceptional during your most recent visit. I hope that you will give us another chance to provide you with some amazing empanadas! I hope to see you again soon. Thank you,- Roy, Owner

Real fine place - super welcoming and all goodness from the staff. Fresh Dominican food - I had the roast chicken with rice and beans - good. Avocado salad - also good. Nice cold Presidente - good... finished it up w a slice of tres leche cake - good.if you're up north - this is a smart choice.T'man '13

Excited to try for the first time after reading positive reviews. Ordered steak Fajita burritos, chicken enchiladas, cheese quesadillas and jalapeño poppers. With the size of our order ($95) we received two free orders of chips and their homemade salsa. The poppers were small, 6 in an order, and came on a plate with some lettuce and sour cream. I'm sure you can do better out of the freezer at your supermarket, although I have a strong sense that may be where they came from. The burritos were a pretty good size but sadly lacked flavor. My wife, a very positive person by nature, had nothing good to say about the enchiladas. My grandsons, who have had the burritos and poppers before, were happy but when I was asking what they wanted they both said their tacos were not good, hence we ordered what we did. I added a star because they liked what they had; but, we won't be ordering from there again.
