Peruvian cuisine is one of our very favorites since first really getting into it 25 years ago. Since then, this part of upper Montgomery County has gotten quite a number of Peruvian restaurants, from chic and expensive to basic and simple. In other words, the competition has gotten pretty stiff. We have favorites, frankly, on who makes the best saltado. We figure if they get that right, a lot of the rest will follow! Fair? Maybe not, but between the horrendous noise at this place, the fact that whatever they clean the floor with can cause you to nearly break your neck because it's so slippery (all three times), and the only so-so saltado, we just don't need to go back. Other dishes - seafood in particular - aren't bad, but we've had better elsewhere.

Latin American & Spanish Tapas
I was craving Spanish Tapas close to home and found this place on the internet and I decided to give it a try with a girlfriend. OMG, the ambiance, the waitres/bartender and the food were amazing and the bill was very affordable and we had so much food. They are constantly revisiting the menu and changing it, which I find fantastic. I recommend this place if you want to stay local and have great food.

We ate here late on a Saturday afternoon. It was quiet in the restaurant. Approx. five tables were filled. Someone was setting up what looked like DJ equipment, so it may have become a much more festive atmosphere after we left. The interior was nice enough, and the service was friendly and attentive. We ordered a Mojito, which was very good. The complimentary tortilla chips were good. The salsa that went with them was a somewhat bland, pureed substance (like very thick tomato sauce, with a bit of hot sauce added). We ordered the parilla meal for two, which many people would probably think of as âfajitasâ with some side dishes. The meal came with a âsizzlingâ platter of shrimp, chicken, beef and four BBQ pork ribs, as well as some seasoned rice, beans, a lettuce/guac/pico de gallo assortment and some flour tortillas. I would have liked a slightly larger portion size for the cost of the meal (which was forty dollars). As for taste, I found the meat a sides a bit plain/bland. I donât think that I would return just for the food, but it was a pleasant place to visit.

This was my first visit. It is a chain restaurant and has basically the same menu as other Peruvian style restaurants. Their cooking ovens are not prominently displayed like other competitors display them. The interior design is welcoming and spacious.I started with a large steak salad ($11) which was âyugeâ, yet surprisingly very good. For my entrée I had a whole chicken ($12.50). At least the chicken did have some natural flavor but like most Peruvian places is overcooked and dry. They do offer a mayonnaise-based sauce and a hotter sauce. I am not a fan of mayonnaise on my chicken and would have liked other sauce options. Next time I might bring my own. Note that they do have many beverage options, including beer on tap.

Still not my favorite location (Annapolis, I miss you!!) , but it's ok.Little bit of a rocky start: We were greeted by a clueless hostess who didn't seem to know that part of her job was to provide us with menus and show us to our tables. My boyfriend has to ask her to give them to us. (HUH?)I checked out the menu before I arrived to see if it was the same as the other two locations I'd been to, and was tempted with an order of free guac if I signed to up receive their emails. It was the most delicious decision I made all day! That was some of the best guacamole I've had in a good long time. Big chunks of fresh avocado and flavorful add ins...mmmm. The guac was served with a mix of fried yuca slices, fried plantain slices and tortilla chips. The fried root vegetable slices are one of my favorite things about Paladar. I'm so glad my boyfriend doesn't like guac... that meant that it was mine, all mine! (MUAHAHAHAHAHA!) And it was really big "small" order too... I almost didn't have room for dinner, and I was VERY hungry when I arrived. Boyfriend got the Spicy Queso Fundido for his appetizer, and never have I seen a man so happy to see chorizo (we don't eat pork in our house). I flicked away the sausage chunks and tried a little of it. It wasn't as good as my guac, but of course that's a TOTALLY biased opinion.I had the Diplimatico Sidecar. Pretty good cocktail. Not as good as my beloved banana colada though (not sure if that is only available at the Annapolis location or of they've discontinued it altogether. Either way, I miss it).For dinner, boyfriend ordered the brisket burger. We had to ask for steak sauce, because despite all the stuff piled on it, it still lacked flavor. A nice smoky/sweet sauce would make the burger amazing. I ordered the churrasco skirt steak. The pinto beans that came with it were... interesting. I appreciated the chef's attempt to add a level of depth and complexity to the side dish by adding a dash or two of cinnamon, but it just tasted... random and kinda weird. The rice was soft and almost mushy. Tasted like some boxed Goya yellow rice. My steak was not nearly as large as the other skirt steaks I saw coming out of the kitchen, and it didn't taste as good as it looked. Even the chimmichuri couldn't help it. It tasted like little more than a grilled hunk of meat. No flavor. A little seasoning before grilling would've gone a long way.

Small plates restaurant and bar located in the King Farm neighborhood of Rockville, Maryland.
Had a very nice dinner at Botanero. I donât usually like tapas because you order lots of dishes & never seem to have enough to eat. This was different, the portions were more generous. Especially liked the chicken drumsticks, sizzling shrimp and short ribs. Creme brûlée was very good. Also felt it was reasonably priced.

Happy Hour awesome except "no red wine" @ HH prices. The bartender Elvin was wonderful, he was very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. Dinner later with family was excellent......Ribs, chicken, salads, beef all were prepared with fresh ingredients and served hot. Thank you for a very special evening & helped us celebrate our granddaughter's graduation. We move to the beach 13 years ago but prior to that we always enjoyed Guapos and were frequent guests.

It's part of a "Washingtonian" gas station complex - I think it's related to the Taco Bar that you have listed on Russell (also in Gaithersburg). It has eat-in & carryout.
Great place and very industrial in design. Staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. Small menu but packed with interesting items. Everything is Ala carte. The Pork Belly rice bowl and tacos are incredible. I recommend this place for any meeting or gathering
