A very popular roadside restaurant serving authentic excellent Mexican food at weekends. It is our favourite lunch place on Sundays, where we always have their signature Carnitas (pulled pork), served with beans, guacamole, nopal salad and tortillas. In addition, there is always a selection of some 8-12 salsas of different âheatâ ratings. Their beers are cold but beware of their margaritas! Parking is not a problem and we always take our three well-behaved dogs. Cash only.AivarsT

Our friend wanted traditional Mexican food and so we brought her here. A normal Mexican restaurant serving the traditional fare. Pricewise, can't be beat. But taste-wise ... also can't be beat. Service was excellent and the ingredients were all fresh. Just wonderful!

Xolo Cocina is inspired by different dishes from Latin America, based its cuisine on fresh ingredients and seasonal. We have celiac and vegan options.
XOLO's owner and staff have completely reworked a 2 year abandoned former restaurant into a delightful space for small or large groups. Tables are well spaced for intimate dining. The wait staff is very attentive and helpful with excellent English. A shot glass of fresh orange juice welcomes yours you study the menu. Delicious margaritas were 2 for 1 and the pork sopes as an appetizer were perfect. Entrees were tortilla soup and beef tacos. Both were delicious and well prepared and presented. We finished with the fig and raspberry cheesecakes. Both were outstanding with fresh fruit flavors, creamy cheese served on a cookie like crust. All portions were perfect - not too heavy and not too much. We strongly recommend this restaurant and will return. Thanks you.. hope to see you soon and we will keep working for our customers.

Arriving with a group on a bus in quiet neighborhood, we were somewhat reluctant about upcoming experience. Inside we found lovely tables and garden with welcoming host. It was a buffet with 3 delicious entrees, 3 desserts, generous drinks and charming, efficient wait staff. The entertainment was a lovely girl with a beautiful voice and large repertoire. Wonderful from beginning to end.

A great place to eat when you visit Chapala, amazing views, free boats rides, delicious food and a familiar environment.
My mother and I saw this highly rated restaurant a little west of Ajijic, and had not been disappointed by any 4.5 star-rated restaurants on our trip... until now. We simply came to have a couple drinks down by the water, and share an appetizer of ceviche. It is worth noting that I speak fluent Spanish, but my mother does not, so I was doing all of the ordering. To accompany our drinks, I asked for two glasses of water (free). Next thing I knew, the waiter was bringing over two bottles of water. I didnât say anything at the time, but shouldâve seen this as a sign of things to come. After finishing our drinks and plate of ceviche (mediocre at best) we asked for our check to leave. The waiter brought a piece of paper with just a number on it, 520 pesos, and scribbled Spanish stating that this was the total after the suggested tip. (Yes, for two drinks, two âwatersâ and an appetizer- WAY overpriced) Tucked behind this paper was an itemized bill for 435 pesos. I handed over a credit card and he asked me what I would like to add for a tip. I said 15% (yes, even in Mexico with mediocre food and service I am still going to be generous). Next thing I knew, I was signing a bill that added 100 pesos (25% tip!) for a total of 535. I looked him in the eye and told him no, I said 15%. He acted innocent and apologized, as if it was somehow a misunderstanding, and then fumbled around to find some change in his pocket in order to reimburse me in the amount of 35 pesos. Did I care enough to let if sour the evening? Of course not. But as someone who relies on TripAdvisor for restaurant recommendations, I thought Iâd share my experience at this â4.5 starâ place. And let others know that I certainly will not be going back.

EXCELLENT PRICES!One common complaint I hear around the Lake Chapala area is that it is hard to find good Mexican food. There is every kind of imaginable restaurant in this region, and it is kind of true that good Mexican food is difficult to find. Well, your troubles are over.Rose and I just kind of stumbled into this place one day, and Boy! Are we glad we did. We have been back several times, yesterday for lunch and this morning for breakfast.Every time we came here we were greeted (in Spanish), quickly seated and served. The menu (pictured here if TA allows it) is varied and on the back it has daily specials for every day except Sunday. We have never had a meal there that we did not enjoy. Food is served quickly, hot and the wait staff is very attentive. We have only had to wait to be seated once and that was about two minutes. They have a unisex bathroom that is not luxurious but clean and adequate. It is conveniently located directly across from the taxi stand at the Plaza Ajijic. Additional info for the questions asked below: You CAN get delivery if you are within walking distance.Vegetarians can order the chile relleno (has cheese). I know they serve beer, maybe wine, no hard stuff.
